I've always loved that she didn't forgive him. Some things can be unforgiveable. Sure, forgiveness is one step towards healing, and it might be necessary for SOME people, but not for everyone. When people are told they NEED to forgive in order to start healing, it can halt the healing process, and they might feel as if there's something wrong with them if they can't. It’s really impactful that they included this in a children’s show. Also, even though it was wrong of her to make the comment to Sokka about not loving their mother the same way, I completely get it. Katara was closer to her mom than Sokka, had to take over the mother figure after her death, saw her mother’s burnt corpse (while Sokka likely didn’t), feels responsible for not getting her father in time, and likely worked out that her mother died in her place a long time ago (Sokka said they came and left quickly, her mother was the only death to our knowledge, she knew he was looking for “information,” and it was common knowledge that fire benders took away all the water benders before).

2024-10-04 14:30:02 +0000 UTCI don’t like how patronizing Aang is. Katara figured everything out by herself and had some closure. Even without Aang’s advice, she wouldn’t complete her revenge. Zuko and Katara went together because they both have a shared trauma (loss of a mother) and understand each other feelings about that. It was a healing experience for both of them.

Great reactions, as always.. really insightful.. I see something new everytime i watch this.. lol.. I think she needed to face him , i think she carried that trauma with her everyday and it was probably a part of the reason she wanted to become a great water bender so badly. Her mom kept her secret and died for her.. too devastating to fully understand.

That is a huge trauma to survive. I absolutely feel you, the number of times this show has hit parts of my life that i dont want to get the therapy i probably should have for it lol, ive lost count. hugs, all the way from Maryland. The things we survive, but carry with us are just... so much sometimes.. many many hugs. <3 yea, this series will bring so much out.

OMG, i would be on that trip too. The warmest, kindest people can be the most brutal when they are standing up for , avenging or defending someone they love.

2024-09-11 00:37:22 +0000 UTCYeees, Azula is the Damned Devil and i love it! she is flawless and deadly. A really good villian. especially for a 14 ear old child soldier. Also, Katara has every right to be mad. She trusted Zuko in that cave and almost gave him the water from the north pole to heal his scar, she didnt and then needed it to bring Aang back to life.. That is a heavy bit of guilt.. Ive been in situations where ive helped someone who didnt deserve it and then not been able to help the people who need me and i bounce between anger and regret about that till this day.

2024-09-11 00:34:29 +0000 UTCI also looove how they show growth in each person, Zukos firebending is so much more powerful now, not only does he go toe to toe with Azula but he isnt grunting and struggling anymore.. His bending is fluid now.. A subtle thing but a very cool thing to show.

But this is one of my favorite episodes . I love love love that they found a way to show real human emotion and behavior and depth in what is supposed to be a kids show.. Binging the entire series gives each episode a whole different feel. I didnt like this one originally but then i binged it and it hit so different.

Anyway, the show got us all in the feels again with this one 😅 Happy to see you're genuinly enjoying the ride!

When get to the finale don’t hold back on those emotions man. Let them out. I’m always a mess after watching it.
