I know I'm very late but just incase- about the family tree and why that happened in case you haven't already looked up a picture of the family tree (that's what I had to do when I first watched it to understand how the lines cross lol). Minor spoilers if you haven't read the comics: Roku and Sozin both had grandchildren. Zuko's mom, Ursa, lived in a village away from the fire nation nobility. Ozai sought her out for a forced marriage specifically because she was tracked down as someone with an Avatar's bloodline. He thought that fathering children with an Avatar's blood would make them more powerful, and in some ways, that's exactly what happened with Azula. This is one of the best episodes.

Azulon and his wife, Ilah, had Iroh and then Ozai. Roku and Ta Min had a daughter, Rina, who married Jinzuk and had Ursa. Fire Lord Ozai had Zuko and Azula with Ursa. That's the family tree, basically haha

It doesen't have to be continueing the wrath of the fire nation and following his fathers footsteps. But also, just like how Roku and Sozin used to be friends, that being fire nation royalty and wanting peace in the world doesen't have to be mutualy exclusive
