Really fun to see how your personal experience relates to this episode. One of my favorite parts of this episode is when the scene fades to black and then out of the nothing comes a desperate call for a medic. I imagine that's what it must feel like to be Doc Roe - just a call out somewhere and you gotta go running into the unknown.

When Roe goes back to the town for a hot meal and the bombs come and then he sees the church where his friend and hospital were gives me chills. Seeing his breath and hearing the distant bombing and broken glass as he sees her hair piece is just amazing work they did.

It's the true story of a medic at the battle of Okinawa in the Pacific Theater of WW2. It was the bloodiest battle of the war against Japan costing us 16,000 killed, 32,000 wounded and thousands more from combat fatigue. The Japanese lost over 100,000 killed and civilian deaths on the island were also over 100,000. It was also the only battle in WW2 in which both army commanders died.
