I know there’s no hand guide for parenting or how a mom should act when she finds out her son killed another child for no good reason, but I too found her reactions puzzling. I felt she lacked emotion for the victim and seemed more concerned about him breaking the house rules than she did about him murdering a 13 year old and stabbing two others. As a mother, I truly hope I never find myself in her shoes. However, based on this limited interaction in what is likely the worst moment of her life, it seems it’s safe to assume she’s the type of parent that is very hard to get a reaction out of for the right reasons, yet easy to get a reaction out of her for all the wrong reasons. I’m confident that type of co-existence with a mother and child would definitely lead to some behavioral issues one way or the other, but clearly her son’s needs were incompatible with what she could offer as a parent. Thanks again for all you do!
