This is a new piece of music we developed (and are still developing) at the end of 2016, as a sort of bizzare/majestic set opener while we were on tour with Thank You Scientist and Moon Tooth last December. This remains one of my favorite shows on the tour. By this point, we were already halfway through it: gwe were finally getting used to the stage nerves, the set, touring life in general. It was another plus that the crowd was engaged, and we had a pretty good night (except for Jamie, who broke a string at the end of The Magnet, and thankfully Vin from Moon Tooth was there to help).
Cloud Bunker remained after the tour as our set-opener because of the atmosphere and mood that it sets, so if you missed us on tour, but have seen us in 2017, it's likely you've heard us perform this one. As with almost all TTC songs during the writing process, I can imagine that Cloud Bunker will radically change before it is laid to tape on a future record. That being said, as a musician, I always think it's fascinating to watch how songs materialize over several stages of development. Enjoy!
And no, that bizarre drone at the beginning is not synthesized. Rather it is a sample that I twisted up with several effects (stretching the pitch, speed, adding delay etc.) Can anyone guess what the source sound might be? I'll post a hint, as soon as I can think of a good one that won't give it away outright.

P.S Sorry for the semi-shaky cam. Filming too close to the speakers I suspect.
