Hello Patrons!
It's release day! And this one should save your inboxes when retailers like Kohls and Myer have deal prices on unobtainable retired sets.
Ignore if set retired 12+ months ago
A new option for SUPERHAWKS and THEMEHAWKS has been added, which will stop (SUPERHAWK and THEMEHAWK) emails being set if the set retired over 12 months ago.

This option is switched on by default, which means you should stop seeing SUPERHAWKS and THEMEHAWKS for sets that were retired long ago, and you have no chance of buying - even if Kohls dropped the price 30% on their website!
This feature does rely on BrickHawk knowing when a set retired, and BrickHawk currently considers a set to have retired when the LEGO.com availability changes to "Retired product". So there could be occasions when a set's retirement date isn't known, and if it's unknown then we the SUPERHAWK/THEMEHAWK would still be sent.
This is what BrickHawk is calling the date that a set's LEGO.com availability changes to "Retired product" in your region.
The LEGO.com retirement date is now displayed in BrickHawk Insights (Middle Hawk tier and up), and is the date used by the new "Ignore if set retired 12+ months ago" option above.
And it's worth noting that a set can have multiple retirement dates! There are plenty of examples of sets retiring and then coming back for another short run, e.g. 21315 Pop-Up book in Australia:

BrickHawk uses the latest retirement date (e.g. 24 August 2020 in the example above) when determining if a set retired over 12 months ago.
In some cases, yes! The recent two instances of these from Kohls, where 600 emails were sent for mostly Out Of Stock and/or retired sets because of a 30% price drop, would have only been 150 emails. 450 of the 600 sets sets had retired over 12 months ago and will now be ignored going forward.
And this would be less again if you had switched on "Ignore if set is Out of Stock" - a good reminder that this particular option is off by default! You may wish to switch it on for retailers like Kohls, Myer and BigW.
Yes - you are right. Especially if they all arrive in a short space of time!
So more needs to be done, and that is currently being planned. Stay tuned for more on this soon.
Hopefully this release improves your BrickHawk experience - or at least keeps your unread email count looking much healthier!
