It's Release day! And today it's all about mutes...

Making mutes easier

The link for adding and managing mutes for individual sets wasn't the easiest to find, so this release includes a new "Mutes" button at the top of every set's page. And if mutes have already been enabled, the number of mutes for a set is shown as well, e.g. "Mutes (2)".

Clicking or tapping the mute button will show you the mutes screen in a modal window, allowing you to quickly check your mutes and then get back to where you were by just closing the modal:

And finally, the missing "Forever" link (mute this set from ALL retailers Forever) has been added to the Hawk Actions in Hawk Alert emails:

If you're a a Big Hawk or Ultimate Hawk you can now quickly mute alerts from all retailers forever directly from a Hawk Alert email!

Kohl's SUPERHAWKS email flood

Quite a few of you have reached out after a recent flood of SUPERHAWK emails for Out of Stock sets from Kohl's - frustrated with either a full inbox, or that most of the deals were Out Of Stock (or both!).

Firstly, BrickHawk does not have a bug - this is how it's intended to work and always has! And this happens in other regions too, with retailers such as BigW and MYER in Australia having similar store-wide price drops that trigger many SUPERHAWKS.

Why did it happen?

Kohl's dropped their price on all Out of Stock sets (around 650 of them!) by 30%, which is the minimum - and most used - threshold for SUPERHAWK alerts. So if you had a SUPERHAWK set for Kohl's at 30%, then you would have had a Hawk Alert for each of the sets!

But I DON'T care about Out of Stock sets!

That's ok - BrickHawk has you covered! All you need to do is:

head over to brickhawk.com/retailers
find Kohl's
switch on "Ignore if set is Out of Stock"

Now any future price drops on Out of Stock sets, even if it's over the threshold you have configured, will be ignored and you won't receive a SUPERHAWK (or 650 SUPERHAWKS!) in email.

But I DO care about Out of Stock sets - but not all 650!

It's getting tricky now! You most likely want this because you wish to snag any great deals that are Out of Stock for online purchasing, but are actually still sitting on the shelf down at your local bricks-and-mortar Kohl's store... Many of us will have a story to tell about an amazing deal they got on clearance in store!

After some thinking, it seems there's might be some smarter things that BrickHawk could do here. E.g. if a set hasn't been In Stock for, as an example, 18 months, then there's probably a lower chance it's on a shelf somewhere (compared to a set that only went Out of Stock last week). Or if a set has been retired for a year or more, what are the odds it's still on a shelf somewhere?

Further thinking and analysis is being done in this space now to see what can be done to make SUPERHAWKS and THEMEHAWKS smarter, and prevent the email floods. Stay tuned for more on this soon!
