I wanted to let you know how things are looking after the first round of changes were made to address brickhawk.com's recent slow down.
Firstly, the new server infrastructure is in place, and after lots of changes to which pieces of infrastructure are doing which bits of BrickHawk, the load (amount of work) that the server running brickhawk.com is doing has been greatly reduced:

Since 11 June, brickhawk.com has had a lot more capacity to process your requests, and a slightly noticeable improvement was felt by yours truly when using brickhawk.com.
The main event happened yesterday though, when the new database structure was released. And as expected this had a much bigger impact than slightly noticeable! To get a good understanding of the impact, here's a report from Google's performance auditing tool captured before the change was made:

This is for a retailer listing page for Amazon, viewing all their products sorted by Different to RRP. Whilst it's scoring OK on Accessibility and Best Practices, the most important Performance metric is miserable for this page - 28/100!
So as mentioned, the database change was made yesterday, and another test was run...

48/100!! Sure, it's not in the 90s, but that's a 71% performance increase!
And that's not the end of it - work is already in the pipeline to further address performance, with the aim to get Performance up above 60 as quickly as possible as the next target.
But I'd love to hear from you... does brickhawk.com feel any quicker compared to the last couple of weeks!?
