Inhalant abuse is really prevalent on the reservations. And it's heartbreaking to hear the way people describe it that live there. You hear these people talk about a friend or family member dying from inhalants with the same kind of casual tone that someone would describe ordering a pizza. "Oh yeah, Jimmy died yesterday from huffing paint thinner." My first real girlfriend in high school died from inhalants. I had no idea she was doing that. Her first time was also her last time. I didn't date again for another 3 years because of that.

I'd see real people that weren't there, I'd have full conversations with them where the hallucinations would tell me they were hallucinations. Top that off with vivid shadow people in the room with you and an overwhelming amount of disembodied voices. If it weren't for the massively sedative effect I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it lol also, totally cancelled out your short term memory. Countless times did I get up to do something or start a conversation where I'd immediately forget what I was gonna do or that I was even gonna speak
