Right? Or Robbery? Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks
Added 2023-05-29 08:18:45 +0000 UTCUFC 167 was the card, MGM Grand was the venue, and November 16th, 2013 was the date for the 170lb clash between defending champ GSP and future champ 'Bigg Rigg'.
But was the decision right? Or was it a robbery? Take a trip down memory lane as I first recall what I felt about the fight at the time, and then see if my opinions have changed after a decade has (nearly) passed.

Yeah 5 was close for sure. I just don’t see where anyone can find 3 rounds for GSP!

2023-05-30 08:37:18 +0000 UTCWatching live I remember feeling like GSP maybe won round 3 but that was it. Watching it several times since, I still could only give him 3 and 5. I picked Hendricks to win (all my friends thought I was crazy) simply because Frank trigg easily pushed him back with a 1-2. How good would GSP have been if he worked on getting comfortable with hooks or just generally in the pocket

2023-05-29 22:24:16 +0000 UTCGreat right or robbery, hadn't seen this one in a while! Definitely think Hendricks won, with round 2 being a possible 10-8. Whilst 4 and 5 were somewhat close think Hendricks got those. I feel like whilst the 10-9 to GSP in r3 was fine it is much weaker than the 10-9 to Hendricks in rounds 1 and 2 (if you don't score that a 10-8) but the current scoring criteria doesn't really accommodate that. Also bit hard to see from an angle so I'm not definitely sure but in r1 and throughout the fight GSP and Hendricks were maintaining some degree of control/hand fighting of their respective wizzer hands in the over-under clinch allowing them to land knees and short punches in the clinch more effectively and limiting the number of knees blocked by the other: just an amateur observation (not particularly too adept in grappling knowledge). Also a tad astonished to see Hendricks feinting very little or not at all throughout the course of this fight, had a great time rewatching it.

2023-05-29 20:09:42 +0000 UTCThat was a pretty clear 48-47 at worst for Hendricks imo. No argument at all for GSP winning round 1 and I thought GSP slightly did the better work in 5, landing that big right hand and high kick was what stood out to me most. Incredible fight though regardless
