Patron's Choice changes!

Hi guys! Since I changed the way Patron's Choice works, I figure I'll have to start doing weekly posts like this so everyone gets a reminder to vote. I'm still troubleshooting it so everyone who wants to vote can get in there and do it.

Right now it's an HONOR SYSTEM kind of thing, where anyone with that link can register at scibbe.com and vote on Patron's Choice. That means if you share the link with the general public, everyone will be allowed to register and vote, and it will SPOIL THE SANCTITY OF PATRON'S CHOICE. Eventually I'll have a "log in with Patreon" button so everyone will be able to see the poll, but only patrons will be able to vote on it. 

Weekly Patron's Choice is a thing I've wanted to do for a while now, but I couldn't figure out how to swing it, until it occurred to me to see if there was a WordPress plugin that accomplishes what I want. And there was! So go me.

Instead of the old "nominate then vote" system, we now have a "rolling votes" system. You can go on the poll and vote for as many games as you want, and you can add a new game to the list. Whatever is at the top will get played, and everything else will carry over to the next week. This way medium-popularity games like Half-Life and BioShock that get nominated a lot but never win will eventually have their day in the limelight. (Which is another game that got nominated a lot before it eventually won.)

There are a few issues I'll need to troubleshoot. For example, right now Super Mario Sunshine is in the poll. I don't own a copy of that game, so if it ends up winning I'll have to order a copy, and it probably won't be here in time to play it. I guess in cases like that I'll just go to the #2 winner on the poll. I can say with some certainty that I'll be a grumpy panda if I were to order Mario Sunshine in advance anticipation of it winning, and then it gets sniped at the last moment, and now I own Sunshine but have no obligation to play it. I don't even want that goddamn game in my house. That's why I traded it in in the first place!

Another issue some folks (well, one folk) has been having is difficulty registering at scibbe.com to vote in the poll. If for whatever reason your existing WordPress credentials (if you have them) don't get you in, and my site won't let you register, let me know via e-mail. I should be able to add you in manually. Not a perfect solution, but I want to make sure everyone gets the opportunity to vote.

Last note: I installed a Patreon bot on my Discord server, so $5 patrons who link their Patreon credentials with Discord will get special status on there. Right now that doesn't mean anything -- there's no secret backroom channel or anything like that -- but I think it'll turn your name orange.

That's about it for this week. Anyone have any ideas for my next twisty puzzle? I've solved everything up through the 5x5x5 now.
