Crazy Things Are Happening

OK, here's the short version: I am starting an AR house in Los Angeles, I'm going to Uganda for a month to develop a VR/AR community there and the new episode of LBTF is shaping up to be the longest, craziest video I've ever done.

July has been a crazy month. I don't know if all of you got to see my twitter thread about me wanting to start an AR house, but that was a tweet that changed my life. There I laid a dream of a co-living/community AR space where AR artists from all over the world could live in for free for a month of two, using their talents to help augment a section of the house in fantastical ways - be it with games, art or something else entirely.

The end result would be a place unlike any other, a living vision of what future of AR can be and a space where the AR community can meet, learn, party and connect.

After I shared that dream, it was just a matter of hours we raised tens of thousands of dollars to turn that dream into reality and now I'm pretty confident this will actually happen. In August Aidan will be travelling to LA to house hunt a house within our budget range, and in September we will open the gates to the AR community and begin the most ambitious AR community project the world has ever seen. All my Patrons are invited and I hope to see you there <3

Speaking of which, in August I will be venturing to Uganda to do whatever I can to help develop VR/AR community there! My girlfriend Max has been there for a few weeks already and finding amazing progress, so I'll be there to support her and try to use my forces for good.  This was decided last minute, I have never been to Africa besides Egypt and I'm as excited as I'm terrified. Wish me luck! (And if you are wondering, yes, my trip to Uganda will be part of the story of my next video in the most hilarious way possible).

And speaking of which again, while the next episode of LBTF is taking longer than expected, it is finally becoming something truly special. It is the longest video I've ever made, and from the looks of it I'll be 100% done in mid August and I can't wait for you guys to see it. It is funny, touching, personal and has SO. MANY. TWISTS. Will be sharing a clip with you guys next week <3

Oh and btw I'm also working on a VR experience that will be played by astronauts in space in September, but more on that later ;D

Anyways, hope you enjoyed this little update and thank you so much for supporting me. I can't begin to describe how lucky I feel to have you guys backing me up on Patreon, it's truly been a dream - and I will keep doing whatever I can to stay worthy :)

Love,

Lucas

This sounds awesome! Where can I learn more about it ? I can’t find anything on the website

Lucas, my 3D projection system saw "first light" June 16th. I'd like to be involved in some way with your AR house. maybe I can be a Montreal "node" and I can project a 3D space at my at zumtl.com

I've been seeing their stuff around, it looks really cool! But to be honest I'm bearish on people who do VFX work that isn't real actual, real-time AR? I believe that bringing in someone like that could make everyone else's work "look bad" in comparison (since they'd be working with the real thing and all of its constraints, vs the VFX person who can just pre-render everything and do whatever they want).

It will go into orbit on September 14th, so I'm sure I'll be able to share details soon :D

Very cool! I wonder if you could get the people behind Neoliptus involved in the AR house - I don’t know who they are or where they’re based but they make really cool stuff, like this: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMdWAkcnE/

What could that mean "VR played by astronauts in space* hmmm - want to find out
