Dev Story: Recovering From Burnout and Finding Out What's Next
Added 2019-02-05 15:14:51 +0000 UTC2018 has been a fantastic year - Where Thoughts Go was officially released in the wild and it achieved more than I could have ever imagined.
But it was also a very difficult one. I've gotten sick about 9 times due to exhaustion alone, and one of my pledges to 2019 is to approach this year with a bigger emphasis in health and personal growth.
I've also been struggling with following up with Where Thoughts Go. I want to create something that's even more impactful and just as original, so I'm dealing with a lot of pressure. I don't think that's negative per se. I hope that the pressure will drive me to find something that's truly worth making.
So I spent the month of January in Berlin, Germany, trying to get inspired and find out what's next. I started building a few crazy prototypes. They all suck right now - but I see some flashes of brilliance in them that may serve as a seed for something beautiful down the line.
I'm currently out of the U.S. until early March, when I'll return for SXSW and GDC. Perhaps I'll see one of you out there? I hope so.
Either way, thank you for supporting me, and let me know what you think of these logs.
