Remaking from scratch ㅣIGORㅣ01.IGOR THEME

03:27 — synth bass

The first sound that comes out of IGOR is a raw, fuzzy synth bass; it sets the tone for the rest of the album.
For this sound,  you could see it fills the spectrum if you put it in an EQ plugin. So I would like to use a saw to make it. And I took two saws and set the first one to -12 semitones. Fill the frequency from low to high. And give the second one some unison effect, which will multiply the number of original voices, effectively making the sound much thicker.
In the FX section, I add two distortions for more new frequencies and a little bit of chorus to create some color. In the original sound, you can hear the synth bass spinning in the stereo, and that's the flanger effect, which will mix two identical signals together, with one signal delayed by a gradually changing period. It makes the sound feel like it's rotating in space. So I raise the rate to 280 and the depth to 3.20 ms to speed it up, but lower the wet to make it sound more subtle.
In the mix, you need to focus on the high and low end. So I added a to SoundToys's radiator to give some character on treble and made a smile-shaped EQ in ProQ to get more clarity.

06:43 — sample

The drum sample comes to Bob Welch's Attention, It took 0.22.82~0.34.94 parts to chop and change it a bit, making the snares hit slightly layback.
I boosted 6DB around 80 and 174 Hz for a more punchy and clear kick. and did a lot of cutting at 9K/2K4 to get a crisp snare. And then I put a little bit of palte reverb in it, just to get some texture.

12:20 — Subbass

For the subbass here, I don't need it to be aggressive because we already have a synth bass. I just need a sound that fills the low end. so I took two square waves. Cutting off the frequency above 121 Hz and setting keytracking to 0.5. Putting some distortion on it. Then add a Super Unison to get a huge sounding.

20:17 Chords

the original chord progression is Dm7—D7—Em7—Em7. Tyler makes it sound more interesting by using inversion and bass movements.

32:18 — Lazer Gun Sound Effect

This sound is kind of like shotting sound from a laser gun. It's short and bright.  So I took a saw wave here, bring sustain to 0,  decay to 225ms in VCA.  Then do the same thing in ENV 2, but more short, and modulate the coarse and cutoff with it. So you can hear a short pitch-up and puch in attack, that give it a laser feeling.  And you can hear a hit sound when you play it too fast. It's very weird and I didn't find a way to fix it yet. So you need add a norch eq around 4320hz weak that sound.

33:43 — Distored Bass

For this distorted bass, you need a real realistic bass sounding as the base. I like to use the Fatwoodbass from Orangetreesamples to make it normally. So I took this and distorted it with Fabfilter's Saturn 2. In Saturn 2, I selected old tape mode, which brought in more odd harmonics. And setting bass and presence down to 0, because I don't need those parts of sound. And then setting the drive and level to the highest, so the distortion will compress it so much and add a lot of new frequencies, making it almost like a lead. It was too harsh and loud. So I add a lowpass filter in 6K, a highpass in 160, and a -6db gain in 1K to make it fit the whole song. then add a plate reverb to soften it up a bit.
