So I still haven't posted December's story yet. Mostly because I lost the last week to a nasty norovirus. Smalls got it first and then proceeded to attach himself to my side like some sort of vomiting toddler-shaped limpet. Then wednesday after work I was trying to put Smalls back to bed after he'd been sick and Big's shouted from his room. I opened his door to find him vomiting all over the floor. I sent him to the bathroom so I could clean up, all the while trying to get Smalls back into bed because he couldn't understand why he couldn't be up since everyone else was. Then Man Friend ran past so he could go puke in the kitchen garbage can.
The thing is, once the toddler gets sick, I basically just accept the fact that I, too, will likely get it. Because toddlers basically just sneeze in your face all of the time. It's what they do best. I lasted maybe three hours because I succumbed. We spent the next few days trying to keep water down. It was so bad I had to use one of those grocery delivery sites to bring us juice and medicine. And the dog was pretty pissed that no one was walking her or playing fetch. (We have a fenced yard. She went out. We just also have an Australian Cattledog mix and she neds all of the attention forever.)
I judge how sick I am by whether or not I can read or drink coffee. I got sick Wednesday. I didn't read a book until Sunday. It was all pretty terrible and it meant that I got further behind.
So I decided to help me catch up, I would offer up a snippet of the book I've been working on instead of a story, and then hopefully post the story I was working on as January's story fairly soon. Hope that's okay.
The book I'm working on is called Curses. It's a standalone, and it's all about fairytale curses. I'm sure you'll see somethings you're familiar with if you, like me, read fairytales religiously growing up. It's still really rough as I'm currently drafting the book to show to my editor. Which means maybe three people have seen it until now.
Hope you guys don't hate it.
