Pay What You Want?
Added 2020-01-19 20:58:32 +0000 UTCHi Patrons! You may have noticed that I am considering restructuring my Patreon rewards. I want to ensure I am creating value for supporters and meeting all of my promises.
Based on feedback from the survey, I am leaning in two separate directions:
Option 1 - $1, $2, and $5 tiers with slightly altered rewards
Early access moves from the $5 to the $1 tier along with some other minor tweaks. This would completely remove any benefit to the $5 tier and I don't have any really great replacements. This option would give distinct $1 and $2 tiers, with the option to donate more if you want.
Option 2 - Pay what you want
Since I would now have a tier that gives no additional value (except maybe feeling really good about yourself), I am considering collapsing all rewards and simply offering a PWYW model. I would suggest $1, $2, or $3 per month, but leave it up to you.
Patreon keeps beestat running...I want to incentivize people to give so that I can continue to grow the product. I also want to keep things simple. Gating features would make tiers trivial to determine, but I've never liked that model because there are many people who can't give who would lose those benefits.
