Survey Results - Features & Support
Added 2018-08-03 18:10:34 +0000 UTCAs part of the beestat 1.1 release I launched a survey to see what features people most wanted to see next, and how they felt about supporting the project financially. I'm glad I did!
Here are the results:
I originally thought people would want notifications more than anything else. After all, that's what I wanted. However, the data clearly shows that most people (75%) want to see more information about their ecobee and how their home compares to others. So that's where we're headed. Release 1.2 (more detail to follow) is going to be all about fleshing out the existing data in more detail and attempting to bring the Temperature Profile out of beta.
I spent hours debating how to approach this question and whether this was something I wanted to do at all. Several people had mentioned that they would be willing to throw a bit of cash my way for beestat but I didn't know how well this would go over. Just over 60% of people surveyed were willing to donate to support this project. For a project that doesn't offer much more than a pretty version of Home IQ, I'm pretty happy with this. Getting some support for beestat will help me secure a reliable server and cover some of the costs associated with storing and analyzing hundreds of millions of rows of data.
These two questions helped drive the next few months of development. I've been doing a bunch of research to make this all happen. More news soon!
