IFS031 Clips + Preorder

the preorder and clips for the release are online now

in case anyone of you doesn't have, or, is not following me on instagram, i made a post about this release in which i explained a little bit of my journey.

here it is:

1   this record is special as it marks fairly accurately a decade of me making music. i used to skate a lot and unfortunately fucked my knee one day which let to me not being able to roll for a while. when i was gradually able to ride again, i (my knee) couldnt really endure any long sessions anymore and so over some time passing, skating as the core of my life slowly started to fade. at the same time around 10 years ago i first was introduced to the 140 sound and it was also the first time i really felt music. i was super curious about how people make these sounds and couldnt imagine it at all. my partner at the time (danke m!) was kind enough to let me download a cracked version of reason5 onto her laptop as i didnt have one and so i started playing around in this overwhelming piece of software. so years went by and the more skating faded out the more music faded in. it's crazy to think it's been 10 years. sometimes i still feel like i don't know shit (which is probably also true), which is something to love about creative journeys as there is no real end result and everything becomes a process.

2    fast forward to the present. i was fortunately made aware of the effects of vinyl (pvc) on the environment and also human health which i had never even remotely thought about before. i didnt consider the slightest how vinyl could be any sort of a problem, despite me being pretty interested in sustainability. the connection between the innocent thing music and the harmful nature of human production of any sort didnt connect in my brain. it was really eye opening and so i felt the need to act and adressed my concerns with all labels i had music already signed to or forthcoming. this record in particular is the beginning of the end of me releasing music on vinyl until there are better options, materials, processes in order to make this less harmful for planet and people.

the appeal of a vinyl record is great. i love how it feels, i love to play it, i love how it sounds, i love that it is analogue. i started releasing music on plates in 2016 so it's been 6+ years of me putting out tunes on vinyl. but the cost coming for the planet i can not feel good about anymore. my music hurting the planet one way or another feels strange, so currently feels best to be moving away from vinyl and concentrating on other options in the future. it is also currently nearly unrecyclable (into anything other than itself, a material that is banned for most applications due to the health risks, and even here it's difficult)

with this record we tried to reduce waste to the necessary minimum of making a record. we printed in one color, the record is made from recycled vinyl, no print sleeve on unbleached cardboard. there are obviously many more factors that are still problematic within the process as a whole but i hope that this record can mark a checkpoint to where this topic may be adressed more often and eventually leads to normalizing greener methods which then again result in these methods becoming more developed, more accessible and more affordable.

so kind of enjoy this plate with some caution haha and wish for the whole industry/scene to kind of collectively raise awareness and find solutions together. hope you can enjoy this record still and thank you for ur trust in the sound. i have a couple more records lined up this year and after those my vinyl journey is put on ice. so let's see what the future will bring and i hope this will be the first of many towards a future of bass that is greener.

big up everyone i could get to know within this time off- and online. fans, and fellow artists, listeners, heads, and special thanks to sound system crews and providers!

consistency in my life is unfortunately pretty rare, so it's kind of crazy ive been doing something for so long. also recently i have been listening to rain recordings to aid falling asleep. also i remember in the beginning of 2020, while reflecting on the last decade from 2010, thinking, damn in 2 years I'll be making music for 10 years. and all of a sudden (maybe this is what coki was talking about) time has rushed, feels like it's skipped the last 2 years and it's already here.

peace
