Still Game Boys Pilot

Hello!

Here's something a wee bit special and exclusive for all you Patrons. A while back we were asked if we fancied doing something for BBC The Social's gaming channel. It seemed like a good idea; why not make something that can help us spread our wings a bit and get more folk to discover us?

We came up with what we thought was a great idea and they loved our pitch: Still Game Boys.

The idea was that we goto a different pub each video and get the regulars to play video games and review them for us. I had a clear idea of what the video looked like in my head and, I have to say, I was very proud when we finished the pilot video. It looked exactly how I imagined it and I can honestly say it's one of the things I'm most proud of making.

Sadly, for some reason, once I submitted the video, they re-cut it without telling me and neither Scott nor I were happy with what actually went out on The Social's youtube page. After you've watched my version you can have a look yourself here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwLbfbvZPy0

For various reasons, I wasn't happy, and we only tweeted out the link to the video once instead of giving it the full social media carpet bombing I thought I would be enthusiastic to give.

So, here's the original cut straight from us. It's unlisted on Youtube so only our dear patrons can watch it.

If you like it, let us know below. We've been in two minds about maybe continuing the series on our own channel. Would that be something you would like to see? It's a pretty big production compared to our usual stuff, but if the demand is there from you lot, who kindly and generously support what we do, then we might make more.

Anyway, I hope you like the video and appreciate this little glimpse into the inner workings of Bit Socket.

Cheers,

Joe

We made it using all our own kit! Barry Topping did the music for us.

Better late than never! I thought that was a cracking video with a clever premise. Out of curiosity, was this a proper collaboration with the BBC - using their equipment/manpower or was this a full Bit Socket effort? I'd definitely be interested in more Still Game Boys.

Glad you liked it! Sadly it looks like nobody is really bothered haha

Only just got around to watching this but it was great. would definitely be interested to see more.
