Creators Journal #03

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all doing well! It’s spring here in Spain and after weeks of nonstop rain the weather is finally starting to warm up.

I wanted to update you all on this month’s collection. Back in January I mentioned that I would be taking the month of April off to rest after the second anniversary. However I have decided that with The MET Gala Being at the beginning of next month, taking this month off would be a lost opportunity to dress so many of you for the event. The theme for the Carpet as well as the Exhibition are something that I find very interesting and educational, and I have been studying a lot to make sure that I deliver a collection that fully embodies said themes.

I’m almost ready to present the collection, I have everything made and ready to render the photos for Instagram. Today I am finishing the scene and will start posting hopefully today or tomorrow.

This month I have tried something new and quite ambitious. With the focus on tailoring, I wanted to give everyone as many options as possible so that no one turns up on the carpet wearing the same exact outfit. I have played with creating different Swatches for certain looks before, but this month I have gone really overboard. Each look has 12 unique Swatches from plaids, to prints, and then they also have options for a new Hensley Atelier Monogram fabric I have created, as well as a solid color option. Each part of every single mesh has its own materials, Base Texture, Secondary Texture, Trim, Details etc. this way you can mix and match and really be creative. And if you don’t like any of the textures you can always create your own as I know many of you like to. I love to see your creativity so I’m excited to see what you all will come up with.

Unfortunately not only is creating these textures incredibly time consuming (adding between three to four hours onto making each look), it also makes the files quite heavy. So don’t freak out when you see that a simple garment is a very large file size. If you need to delete the texture you are not using I recommend doing so. I have done some test renders and on my PC it has not slowed down any render times but I will test some more to see if there is anything else I can do before the collection releases.
