Update 6/21/21

21/21, yay! You only get twelve days of that this year, and one of them falls on an Aria update!

Truth be told, I'd planned to have more ready today, but I'd failed to account for an impromptu vacation by Toro, who's currently out having a lot of fun and will be back later this week. That means scraping together some drafts of his future works, which will likely change by the time you see them in-game. Robots and raves, both are certainly out of place for Aria's setting!

Those of you who've been here a while may have noticed that Aria's world has a LOT of characters, an order of magnitude more than in Forks. The saving grace for my sanity is that you won't be seeing everyone in a single playthrough; your decisions as Aria will naturally bring you into certain spheres of influence. For example, the script sample above has Aria visiting Brie and Zoe with Lotus, an action which will push Aria more in their direction.

The two "littles" I posted this week had a couple of extra script samples, and while there's only one way to complete Maestra's "mission", there's many ways to enjoy yourself while you screw it up. One of which is to completely ignore Maestra and plow straight into whatever racket Lotus and Brie are working in! And, again, robots and raves. Forks helped show me that I could tackle more characters, and Toro's had a blast developing them all.

Let's also go through exactly where we are for the first proof-of-concept. The script's mostly finished, with just one last major scene needing a rewrite. Aria (and Forks) scenes can come together in very different ways than they were concepted, and even the early scenes have been no exception. Long story short, we need a couple of extra backgrounds that I hadn't originally accounted for. Toro's going to be working on those once he returns later this week. With those out of the way, we may also revisit our world (island) map to make that a little more presentable. I hadn't planned to include the world map in the first demo, but it's coming!

Lastly, and as always, thank you to all of our patrons (and new ones! Hi ^-^!). Team Spoon is a decentralized team of 4 people in 3 states who never thought we'd have a chance to actually work on video games. Games are the goal, and until then we toil in our day jobs so we can keep the dream alive. I can at least say we're a week's closer to getting there! Feel free to ask any questions, and I'll see you all next time! Public update for everyone, Littles for the patrons!
