We're Hiring!
Added 2021-09-26 19:00:32 +0000 UTC(Update, 10/18/2021 -- FInalists have been notified. Even this was a very tough choice and we appreciate all the effort everyone put into their applications.)
(Update, 10/6/2021 -- Applications are closed! We'll add an update here once we've reached out to the finalists.)
Blocked and Reported is looking for a part-time editorial assistant to help us with… well, everything. The role is $25/hour for 40 hours per month (so $1,000 per month) and the contract is for one year. We are very office-less, so the position is remote. International applicants welcome as long as you are confident you can make the time-zone difference work.
This role will be a mix of administrative and research work.
Admin: This person will help answer emails, write episode guides, organize AMAs, post episodes and other content, etc. Basically the non-podcasting stuff we do on a day-to-day basis. We need someone who is a very clean writer, adept at snappily summing up information, and who won’t need much supervision or hand-holding.
Research: This person will pitch story ideas and conduct research for us. Sometimes it’ll be “Hey, we heard [NOTE FOR LEGAL PURPOSES THAT THIS IS A HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE:] Lena Dunham has a sock-puppet account on Reddit slinging vicious mens-rights activism memes. Can you look into this and write us a summary of what we know and don’t know about the situation?” Sometimes it’ll be, “We’re light on story ideas this week. Can you poke around for a couple hours to find us some stuff?” So for this aspect of the gig, you simply need to be a pathetic internet obsessive who can dig into disgusting controversies very quickly and then efficiently communicate what you have found.
TO APPLY:
Email your resume (please keep it to a single page and send it as an attachment) and 500 words or less on why you want to work for us and why you’d be a good fit (paste that part in the body of the email) to blockedandreportedpodcast@gmail.com. Put “JOB APPLICATION” and nothing else in the subject line to ensure your application finds its way into the right folder. All applications must be received by 5 PM ET on Wednesday, October 6th.
We will not be able to respond to inquiries about specific applications, but we will note here when we’ve reached out to the finalists.
Good luck!

I'm constantly online and have experience working on a podcast for a controversial journalist. Expect my resume.

2021-09-28 20:48:59 +0000 UTCOne thing. If you have gmail's conversation view enabled, you may find all the applications lumped into a single conversation. Maybe they fixed this, but that's how it was a few years ago.

2021-09-26 21:39:48 +0000 UTCInteresting. Would it be mandatory to work under your real name for this position, or would pseudonymity be an option?
