TF Example in Unity

Vince has come back into the Unity game engine and VR, this time to transform.

VIDEO: https://r2y.com/vid/unity-example.mp4 1080p 60fps

Still just testing capability here, but it was a success.

It was a bit involved versus my last Unity post since it's using an actual model, but the C# scripts I put together will automate out the complexity going forward. With this done, I can now export an animated model from Maya using my TF rigging technique and put it right into Unity. I attach one script that matches the joints of the main skeleton with their "TF pivot offset" joint counterparts, then does the complicated matrix math at runtime to keep the model from folding in on itself.

It's pretty cool to see the technique working in VR. However, it became immediately obvious that I will need to have multiple high resolution textures and normal maps per model if I choose to make any kind of VR experience. Also, I will still have to learn a new workflow for hair.

I have to say, though, that it's quite fun and weird to see your own creation come alive and blink and look around in VR. Hey, I might make him face the camera and follow my movements while he asks for "more"! 😆

This video shows one of the four "stages" of Vince's transformation with that stage's mesh and four additional blend shapes. His skin appearance interpolates across five texture/normal/roughness maps as he gets smoother and yellowish. The 🔈 speaker icons show where I have placed sound sources: at Vince's mouth as he moans, and along his spine so a viewer can hear his insides shift, twist and crack as he takes on a new form. The other scene elements are just for scale reference since this is just a tooling project with proof of concept.

Side note: since I'm not taking money with Patreon I've set up an $1-but-still-always-free tier with everything just so I don't have followers removing and re-adding their patron access, which is a thing. 🤔 You're encouraged to switch to the new $1 tier but you're still not going to be charged no matter what tier you are on.

Thanks everyone!

Paul

Yes! Transforming into the god worm!

Hoping we get to see some work. It doesn't have to be VR to be honest.

J

Woow thats really hot >< cant wait to see your work again ^^

Dolan! I'm of course glad to hear that you have enjoyed Vince. 😉 Feels awesome, thank you tons! I do have a Donate button on my placeholder site at https://paulstrong.com/ now for that purpose, and I was planning to mention it on my next post. If there was a proper way to do it with Patreon I would, otherwise the plan is to move my content and migrate the social aspects to my site, then deep link to my posts from other media.

On the note of the $1 tier, though... Is there an option for us to just send you some money? I've gotten off to Vince often enough now I feel like you deserve SOMETHING...! :D

Yeah indeed . . . strange but alluring at the same time . . . I keep switching from looking at his facial expressions and his changing body (especially his cock) . . . and keep wondering how it must feel . . . so impressive! 🙏👍

Cock69

We look forward to seeing what more ones you do as the ones you've done so far have been quite good.

Cohasset Alicorn

Thanks and I do too. So I must make more.

Paul Strong

It's a start, at least. Ha ha

Paul Strong

Thank you as always!

Paul Strong

Yes, I could do a self POV and figure out how to do a render camera for mirrors. Would take a good amount of work to make something immersive that way especially with different headsets.

Paul Strong

On the topic of interactable vr tf, do you ever think you could get a workflow going for a tf happening to a playable model?

Indecisivehusky

I want to do more strange TFs that are lifelike but absolutely not normal.

Paul Strong

Thanks, I have appreciated your support a ton. I may post and share a little bit of what's going on with me in general, to the degree it's pertinent. Some of this work has given me skills that are helping my IRL work.

Paul Strong

Thanks, last night I spent some time getting another mesh in and making realistic lighting. Some ideas have come to me on what setting I might use for a VR project.

Paul Strong

I haven't done interaction in VR yet but that will be fun. Well except supporting different headsets I don't own, that might be painful. Anyway I'd like to be able to have you interact at least in the sense that you can cause or otherwise control or guide a TF. It would be fun for it to turn out different too, like a procedural TF.

Paul Strong

duuude, i want more!

Byyaahh

Looking good. Still such a strange tf but it's oddly alluring.

Cohasset Alicorn

Glad to see updates here :)

J

Thanks for your work that helped get this project on track!

Paul Strong

lookin good, man!

mostlyhuman

That is crazy!

Transformation Guy 3

Amazing!

Sharky

That is really cool.

Almost good as standing there watching! Vince could definitely use a hand - maybe we'll be able to help him out one day.
