Man, I still can't get over Ace being gone. Yeah, I was probably one of those dopey little kids getting into that late '70s KISSteria for all the wrong reasons. HAHA! Leave to Gene to get in a plug for that Kennedy Center Honors gig in December. That being said... I guess with You Tube, it's all about timing and feeding that algorithm... It would probably be a great opportunity to release the 'The Long Wilderness of the Bad Boys of KISS' deep dive. Meanwhile, it felt like an appropriate time to a revisit your comprehensive KISS deep dive. Great stuff!! Looking for to the finale of the glam metal video!

Thanks for the suggestions, Peter!! I dunno when I'll be doing a Judas Priest deep dive thing (tho I definitely want to at some point in the future!!), but I would def want to cover Halford's stuff as a part of it, either as a side tangent in the video or as bonus Patreon stuff.

Thanks for the updates Rezi, I’m really looking forward to the final Glam Metal video. Regarding Ace, that was quite the shock. I’ve had complicated feelings towards him for years. He could be self-aware, lazy, hilarious, mercenary, charming, creepy, an amazing guitarist, and an inconsistent performer, all at the same time. You can’t boil him down to just one thing and to do so would be a disservice to his legacy. RIP Spaceman, his influence will live on forever. As for the people you’re interviewing, I’m really excited to hear their perspectives. I’d love to ask about the unintentional homoeroticism of the glam metal scene, especially with calling that kind of music “gay” in reference to the changing fashions of the ‘90s. That aesthetic shift of tight clothing traded in for loose jeans, T-shirts, and flannel (especially apparent with glam metal acts circa 1990/91) really seems like a good aspect to explore. As for a future video idea, how about a retrospective on Halford’s wilderness years? Halford’s whole arc of self-discovery between 1993 and 2004 is such a fascinating time to talk about.

Thanks for the update Rezi! Continue to take your time with the final Glam Metal Deep Dive. As for Ace, man that was a surprise yesterday. What I saw on social media was love for his influence on a generation of guitarists. Still a bit bummed how Rolling Stone didn’t list him on their 250 greatest guitarists back in 2023. As for questions for your interviews for the final part of the deep dive, I can only suggest if any of them watched VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and 40 Greatest Hair Metal Bands to see how the media at the start of the 2000s was looking back on that era. Otherwise keep up the excellent work.
