For an addendum here: KISS as a recording entity for me stopped in 2000. Afterwards they became zombified. The only coda for recognizing their output was their Rock Hall Induction in 2014 (which should have included Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent, and Bruce Kulick). I will still listen to their output from 1974 to 2000, but much less now like I do with Ted Nugent. I can separate the art from artist, but with where we are now, it is important to remain vigilante and aware of who in the arts associates with politically.

As for the Kennedy Center Honors and KISS, I am disappointed. I feel on a surface level the Honors should definitely honor arts that have made an impact on American society and the world. In a different timeline, if Trump didn’t take over the Kennedy Center, and it was run normally and they picked KISS, then I would be happy for the band. But with Trump at the helm, having Gene, Paul, Peter, and Ace accept this stains them and fulfills what critics like Dave Marsh always thought the band represented. Ditto for Gloria Gaynor, George Strait, Stallone and Crawford. This makes them automatically attached to the naked bigotry of MAGA.

Hi George! I haven't watched any of those VH1 docs yet, tho there are definitely moments where I will. Honestly, I'm half tempted to consult the classic Behind the Music docs too for band crashouts

Hi Rezi, thanks for the update. Take your time on this third part. For 1991, I think you will like the debuts of Saigon Kick and Tyketto. Saigon Kick’s debut and single Whatca Say sounds like a perfect blend of Motley Crue and Soundgarden, and Tyketto well just sounds like a path Glam Metal could have taken if grunge didn’t happen. Also, I was wondering what your thoughts were on those videos I recommended last month? I hope they can provide good grist for the Aftermath section.
