PROLOGUE(Grammarly Edited)

Ding-Dong!!

The calling bell sounded out, making Jonas, who was sitting on the sofa to stand up, albeit a little painfully. The boy couldn’t be any older than 14, even so, he was using a walking crutch to help him walk. Such was his condition after a nasty accident that occurred a year ago. He had hurt some part of his body due to which he could never walk normally with his left leg, as it would hurt every time he tried to do so without support.

Its already been a year, so Jonas had gotten used to walking with a stick, and thus without any problem he arrived at the door within a few seconds. Peering through the spy-hole of the door, he saw a brown uniformed man holding a package with CHL written on his cap.

It’s a delivery man.

‘It's here!’ A smile broke into the boy’s pale face, as he hastily tried to undo the locks of the door. The thing he had been waiting for the past week finally arrived. The delivery man delivered the pack and took a biometric signature from him in the form of his thumbprint, leaving Jonas to his devices.

Closing the door behind him, the boy held the small pack in his hand and steadily walked into his room, which was just adjacent to the sofa he was sitting before. A glow, a kind of happiness could be seen on his face, which disappeared after that terrible incident a year ago, which led him to limp with a crutch.

He carefully unpacked the packet and pulled out a white cover with the image of a sunglass on it. There were a lot of things written on the product case, and various images that looked like a game’s promotional wallpaper was printed on it.

Jonas didn’t bother with them. He opened the white case and pulled out another case, which was carefully packed with many more bubble wraps and airbags. He carefully unwrapped it and slowly opened the black case. In there, was a pair of sunglasses, the same as what shown in the packet’s cover was carefully folded and an adapter with no chords. There was also a small booklet, but Jonas didn’t bother with it.

Jonas took the adapter and connected it to the plug-in point near his bed. As soon as he did so, a red led flared up on the adapter, which then showed a whole bunch of numbers and letters. He ignored them and pulled out the sunglass ever so carefully. Then he carefully placed the crutch to the bedside and sat with his back rested on the bedpost of the bed with a pillow as support.

It was warned to use the sunglass while sitting on a chair, but Jonas was too lazy to do that. Instead, he had chosen his bed to be a makeshift chair.

“Finally!” muttering with a baritone voice that seemed like it hadn’t been used in a long time, he wore the glass. As soon as he did so, a red light flashed on the glass scanning Jonas’ retina.

[Scanning user’s biometrics…]

[Scan Complete. Checking for connectivity… connection found and successfully connected.]

[The Full Dive Virtual Augmented Reality will activate in 3…2…1…]

As soon as this notification on the glass was shown, suddenly, Jonas’ vision went black before transforming into a myriad of colors. Then they vanished, and Jonas’ found himself standing on the surface of a water body that rippled continuously.

“I am standing!” Jonas was so elated that he didn’t bother about anything.

A white box appeared in front of him.

[Please enter your username.]

But he was in no mood to read it, he was just too happy to feel his leg once again, the feeling of standing without the help of a crutch. He had missed this feeling for a year, Jonas’ happiness could only be understood by someone who had gone through the same pain as him.

A few minutes and a lot of waterworks later…

“Hmm, name… I wonder what I should choose?” Jonas fell into a contemplative silence, thinking of a cool yet not embarrassing name that he should choose for his character. Rubbing his head for quite a while, he finally decided to go with [Walker] a play on his current situation.

Thankfully none has taken that name, so he was able to easily register his details, finally giving his mail-id to authenticate, he was all ready to dive into the world of fantasy that was in hype since last year.

[All Credentials have fulfilled. Player Walker, welcome to the World of Pleatharia…]

As soon as this notification appeared, the world he stood dissolved into mosaics.

[Please chose a race.]

Now in a world of complete darkness, Jonas stood staring at a bunch of words that floated in mid-air before 9 humanoid figures appeared in front of him with descriptions about them to the side.

The nine figures are such…

1. Humans

2. Dwarves

3. Dark elves

4. Wood Elves

5. Trolls

6. Goblins

7. Merlocs

8. Orcs

9. Devils

Elves were high aptitudes towards magic, with dark elves towards dark magic, whereas wood elves dabble on life magic. No matter which races one chooses, they will start with a higher INT value than the rest. They would also be given a skill called ‘Flame Shot’ as a starting bonus.

Humans were more of a balanced kind of race, with all stats starting from the same number. As a starting bonus, they would be given a choice of either getting a skill or a weapon of their choice. Either way, it would fall short in front of ‘Flame Shot’ given to those who chose to be Elves.

Dwarves were the same as Humans, only they would have more STR which stands for strength attribute and LUK, which stands for luck attribute. As a starting bonus, they would be given a hammer that has a fixed probability of stunning an enemy when it hits the ground near them.

Goblins were more towards concealed weapons and traps and hence would have a higher AGI and EVA stat. As a starting bonus, they would be given a short dagger that could create a bleeding status to the enemy, whose probability was 0.1%.

Orcs, Trolls, and Merlocs, these three races were basically the same, with the only difference being their living conditions. They would have higher STR and PHY which stands for physique than all other races. As starting bonuses, Orcs would be given a mace, Merlocs, a trident and Trolls, a Severed Tree Trunk. All three items have one feature, that was they would cause a dizzy effect when directly used against an enemy. Of course, the probability of triggering this effect was 30%.

Finally, the Devils, it’s a race that gives a maximum bonus to players. Their STR, PHY, and INT were above every race in one way or another. For example, while they couldn’t compare to Trolls in strength, they could balance it with their higher intelligence and physique. In a way, it could be said that they were superior races among all races. They would also be given a skill called Devil’s Roar that would transfer all the debuffs on their body to a target of their choice.

But it also had the maximum penalties. During the day, all the stats would be decreased by 40%, if the player dies, there was a 100% probability that an item would drop. That’s not all. Each death would cause them to lose 2 levels, whereas other players would only lose some EXP. Due to these conditions, even though the game had been running for a year, only 100 people were playing their character as a Devil. The rest already deleted their account and started a new.

Jonas fell into a contemplative silence once again, thinking of which race he should choose. Unlike a few, he didn’t come to this world to be a top-ranked player, on the contrary, he just wanted to carefreely play and enjoy the moment where he could walk freely without a crutch. As such, he didn’t look for any combat classes.

“Humans. I will choose to be Human.” He made his decision.

[You have chosen to be Human. Generating Status…]

[Name: Walker][Race: Human]

[Level 0][0/100]

[HP: 50/50][MP: 4/4]

[STR:2][AGI:2][PHY:5][EVA:1][DEF:2][INT:2][WIS:2][LUK:10]

[Abilities: N/A]

[Skills: N/A]

A blue box appeared in front of him, showing his detailed stats to him. The number in them were quite low, but Jonas wasn’t worried about that. He had done a few in-depth research about the game. From them, he got to find that grinding against monsters wasn’t the only thing that could enable a player to get stronger. Other ways were also there.

As someone who was here to enjoy his life rather than anything else, Jonas decided to take those unorthodox paths to get stronger.

[Please wait while your character is transferred to a Newbie Village.]

With a lot of anticipation and happiness, Jonas waited to start this new life that he had been dreaming for a few months.
