Three Houses/Hopes Video - My thoughts & the future of YouTube content

Hey!

In preparation for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes I figured it was a good time to talk about Three Houses. The game really meant a lot to me, in fact there was a time where I'd say it was a Top 10-er. Because of this, I wanted to create a bit of a tribute to it (similar to the NieR: Automata video but on a smaller scale) and also explain why I played 300+ hours of a game with 80-100 hours of content (and ~20 hours of original gameplay).

At the end of the video I mentioned that if this were closer to the release of the game, I would have wanted to actually talk about the game rather than spend half the video talking about Animal Crossing/Persona and only generally dipping into the contents of Three Houses. I think that because so many people have made videos on it, dissecting it, analyzing it, praising it, hating it, I wanted to go in a different direction (going with the "Cozy" theming). I haven't actually watched any other creator's videos on Three Houses to be completely honest, most of my impressions of the fanbase's opinion of it comes from Twitter. That's probably not a good thing.

Speaking of Twitter, a lot of that video is for Twitter since it was a chance to talk semi-directly to the audience of people who get really excited to see what is and what isn't taller than Constance von Nuvelle. It was fun to throw in Constance references here and there; I tried to not lean too far into it.

Anyways, I'm pretty happy with how the video turned out. There's a lot more I could say about the game but these videos currently take a ton of effort and time from me, this 12-minute video took a full month of fairly active work to finish (It's mostly due to the density of the videos, I really try to waste zero time and also put effort into making sure every 5-second sequence has some bit of relevant and aesthetically pleasing content on screen. The editing portion alone took a full week of almost exclusively standing at my PC doing editing. The Automata video took me a bit over three months to script, capture, and produce).

I consider this to be a full review of Three Hopes. Even before playing the Demo I could have made an even fuller, "normal" video review of the game. I think there are a lot of really great YouTube journalist who are under much-too-tight deadlines for making video reviews of games, but honestly I don't think anyone pre-launch is going to be able to adequately review FEW: Three Hopes. The game's just too big! And it's so spectacularly for dedicated fans, which I don't think accurately describes many people who get paid to produce Video Reviews.

I'm pretty optimistic about the YouTube channel right now, mostly because the Automata video got picked up by the algorithm and all the support has been so amazing. I have the next seven videos planned and am going to spending most of my free time working on them.

Next up is a game where the white-haired, Tara Platt-voiced protagonist is actually as violent as people imagine Edelgard to be: Drakengard 3! It has a twist/hook though, which I'll reveal with the thumbnail when it gets closer to completion. :)
