WCMBI - Chapter 260: Unacceptable

Ian slumped down and collapsed when Melissa disappeared, his strength dissipating. With sweaty, trembling hands, he covered his face and let out a sigh that seemed to carry a hint of laughter. At long last, a crack formed in her impregnable heart.

Driven by his vile nature, Ian had no intention of letting this opportunity slip through his fingers. After composing himself for a moment, he rose slowly and made his way to Dia's chambers, brandishing his sword and exuding a fierce aura.

Meanwhile, the infuriated nanny, who had scolded the maidservants for not keeping a proper watch, was venting her frustration for no apparent reason.

"Why did this happen? It's all because you didn't keep a proper eye on her! Why didn't you report it correctly?"

"W-We did nothing wrong. We only followed the orders given by the nanny!"

"That's right! Don't wrongly accuse us!"

Amidst the commotion, the chief maid and head butler stood nearby, but instead of intervening, they looked on with a distinct disinterest, keen on avoiding any entanglement.

Witnessing their attempts to shift blame onto one another, a slight chuckle escaped Ian's lips. He approached without them even noticing until one of the maidservants let out a scream, prompting them all to fall silent and put on thoughtful expressions.

"A mess indeed."

"Your, Your Grace."

"It's disgraceful and unacceptable that creatures like you have infiltrated our household."

"We, we apologize. If you could forgive us just this once..."

As the head butler and chief maid tremulously sought forgiveness, the surrounding employees also knelt down and started to apologize in unison. Among them, the nanny stood firm.

She wrapped her swollen face, struck by Melissa, and pleaded with the Duke.

"I am truly unjustly treated, Your Grace. You know how devotedly I have taken care of the Duke all this time. How can you, despite knowing that, allow me to be treated this way by such a base Omega? This cannot be allowed!"

Although she had stayed at the Duke's residence all along, the nanny failed to fully comprehend the implications of the Duke's imprinting. More precisely, she had heard rumors but never paid them any attention, viewing the Alpha and Omega imprints as nothing more than expressions of affection between betas.

Witnessing the shocked expressions of the employees, Ian let out a dry laugh. He couldn't believe there was someone in his mansion who still held such beliefs.

However, whatever his laughter meant, the nanny mustered the courage to approach Ian. Her pride had been wounded by the humiliation she endured as a nanny who had not been properly treated at the Duke's residence. Now, transformed into a sorceress who could perform magic, she had appeared before everyone, openly defying and embarrassing her.

She couldn't continue like this; she would soon revert to her original state. As someone who had tasted the power, she could no longer simply return to being a Duke's maid. With a desperate look in her eyes, she reached out and took hold of his arm, whispering as if pleading.

"I understand your position, Your Grace. Only I, who have cared for the Duke, can help you. So..."

Believing she was the only omega he had imprinted on, even though she was just a newlywed, she willingly offered herself, thinking he would gladly accept her proposal. Of course, she never considered the possibility of other women having the same intentions.

But there was a part of her that believed in the connection they had. While others might see Ian as unapproachable, she believed he would not be the same with her. He had always treated her differently from other employees.

As the sorceress's abhorrent hand explored his arm, Ian swiftly and decisively cut it off without hesitation.

"Aaargh!"

"Hah, dealing with things haphazardly only leads to these kinds of outcomes."

All the times he had believed he had been firm in his punishments seemed futile now. Witnessing those who still looked down upon Melissa, his anger flared up again. Witnesses and evidence were irrelevant. It was better to push them to the extreme rather than wait for them to change their thinking, as they likely never would.

His dark hand, now separated from his writhing body, was drenched in spurting blood. As Ian angrily wiped it off, a deep-seated desire to massacre everyone but his own Omega and child consumed him.
