I like it, but I also think we should keep the line that kenno suggested "Trace was a free spirit, I am not". If it fits somewhere.

Mugger falls in love with Tracey, they have a short relationship until Mugger caught Tracey sleeping with other people. Mugger asks to be taken off the assignment and gets replaced by a rookie detective. Shortly after being replaced, the Phantom Fucker gets to Tracey and Mugger blames herself for letting love get in the way of work. This gives Mugger a stronger personal motive for catching Phantom Fucker and also segways into Mugger questioning the rookie detective who replaced her on the assignment and failed to protect Tracey.
