Well, here's something a bit different.
Late last year, I decided to re-read a weird little sci-fi story I wrote back in the early 2000's. Two things quickly became apparent: I was far more interested in writing about one of the side characters than I was about many of the more pivotal members of the cast; and said character was a great big trans analogy. Here's the fun part: I didn't know I was trans at the time, though this story was written right around the time I first started to wonder if I might be.
Long story short, I ended up re-purposing parts of that story, forming the foundation for Pandora's Tale. I took the side character I liked, and made her the main character. I also made her explicitly trans this time. I also kept Isabelle, who was originally the main character (albeit with a very different background), but replaced most of the rest of the cast.
I had a lot of drawings of these characters, and many of them were lost several hard drives ago, but a few survive - including this full cast picture. Proto-Pandora has different coloring and ears, but her design hasn't changed a whole lot... though this version, not being a pre-transition trans girl, has boobs. Isabelle is basically unchanged aside from the wildly different outfit: she was a space princess in the original version.
One other character on here survives the transition to Pandora's Tale, though I suspect her design will be quite a bit different this time.
Maybe one day I'll share this story that served as the inspiration for Pandora's Tale (IT IS ACTUALLY STILL ONLINE IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO LOOK).
