I wonder if on second rewatch you’re going to catch a certain vibes between two characters iykyk

I just want to add to your theory that Bailey might have had other reasons besides Avatar to leave production, as at least all of the movies we have in the franchise now were all filmed at he same time between 2017 and 2020, before interview season 1 was filmed, I believe.

Annnd I'm back. I'm a slut for IWTV content. I came too.. for the contents of course. . . Hopefully, you guys are appreciating some of the acting in this season. There are award worthy performances and moments from so many.. I will be sure to point them out. The writing and dialogue in this show as always.. are next level. (Miss you Anne. RIP)

I must have watched this series 20 times now through all the various reviewers that I follow (did I mention I love this show) , but I love that Im still picking up on new things through the perspective of a new set of eyes each time.

I get you, Darkwavesurf. Even when my dreams are unpleasant, I still love dreaming. I have the most crazy dreams 😋 Also I think you got the lore without knowing it: In Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles—especially Interview with the Vampire—sleep is indeed portrayed as deeply unsettling for vampires, and it is repeatedly likened to death. Vampires do not experience sleep as humans do; when they sleep, their consciousness fully extinguishes rather than drifting or dreaming. There is no dream-state, no subconscious wandering—just obliteration of awareness until they wake. Louis, in particular, describes this as disturbing because it feels like a temporary annihilation of the self. Sleep reinforces the horror of vampirism by mimicking death over and over again. Each time they surrender to it, they reenact what it means to be dead—immobile, unconscious, and powerless.

on claudia's recasting: there was never a super specific statement put out, what they said was that it was "due to unforeseen circumstances" but most people are in agreement that it was because bailey bass had a commitment to the james cameron avatar movies. personal opinion but i lowkey kind of think there could've been other factors, since she actually exited the production extremely late in the game. iirc they announced bailey's exit a week before they were set to begin filming. delainey hayles said she actually only had 4 days or so between getting cast as claudia, and flying to prague to film. they filmed 2x5 (the episode she's not in) first in order to give her just a little more time to prepare. i have so much respect for her, she did an amazing job with such little prep time, and honestly almost certainly saved the show from cancellation. rolin jones talks about it for a short bit in this vid at 34:48 if you're at all interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRcyx8t-AdU&t=2207s also really liked what you said about daciana and plato's cave. agree with everything you said about her, and in addition i think that seeing louis and claudia may have made her feel like it was okay for her to just be done. if she thought she was the last of her kind, she might've just been sticking around to try and prevent the vampire from dying out completely.

Commenting on your own observations, it's super interesting looking back once you've seen it once. Your notes are always great on looking back at what you've caught, especially Armand's shit stirring. One thing that I've found, after listening to Jacob's music is that there are so many random lyrics from his songs hidden in the show. I'm not fully sure if this is on purpose, but it crops up often enough that I'm suspicious. "We own the night" is in there, and one song of his Pressure, mentions very explicitly "And the prize is a life realising that time's not a right, it's a gift" which mirrors his words in the reunion in ep 8. Most of his music was released far before he was in Interview, so I feel they must have factored this in when casting - he's got the feeling Louis down pat. Top tier reaction and breakdown!

The original actress was unavailable as she was in Avatar! You're discussing memory and using pictures to remember, but something I think is said is that in some situations people can rewrite memories by seeing images, or having them told to them, to make sense of memories which suggests that most memories aren't literally what happened in your past, they're impression of your understanding and perspective on what took place in your past. Someone can correct me if I've remembered this incorrectly, too 😂 Love Daniel in this episode, such a bitch. Their back and l forth sas is something I'm looking forward to in S3. MM I saw your smile when you heard Daniel "I'm a bright young reporter..." 👀 The final "me and you" music in this episode is my favourite of the entire show, such a wonderful piece. Sunshine and rainbows, indeed!
