"Vampire Lestat/Interview with the Vampire" Variety & TV Insider Interviews (MovieMan Reaction)

You asked for it (again) so who am I to refuse lol
Right off the tail-end of my reaction to the latest "First Look" at Lestat's upcoming chronicles, I peeped some more interviews with various news outlets that proved to be quite fun lol
In Rolin's defense: I have the exact same copy of The Vampire Lestat and the pages just are falling out without any mistreatment. I'm from Europe, so when I bought american version of the book, I was so shocked on how delicate it is

you mentioning the way Rolin treats his copy of the book is making me feel targeted😂 my copy of The Vampire Lestat has been disrespected in every possible way, she’s been with me to work and on the beach, inside multiple bags and survived long trips on different cars, trains, busses and planes. She is my BABY (and she is hanging on by a thread…and some tape and glue)

The woman in the second interview is a writer, Hannah Moscovitch. To give you the 'vampire dictionary' definition of who or what the Queen of the Damned is without spoiling anything about the actual plot: she's the first vampire, and was an ancient queen. Her name is Akasha, and her and her king consort were also known as Those Who Must Be Kept. Both those names were mentioned in the show as Easter eggs. How she ties into the story - I will not tell you 😂

Hanna Moscovitch is the author who co-wrote the San Francisco episode, among others. She's the queen of darkness in the Series! In an interview, she was asked about season 2 and what season 3 would be like. She said season 2 wasn't the darkest thing she'd written up to that point.

honestly i love this kind of content, because this cast and the creators are so passionate and articulate about their work (and also just clearly get along very well) and i'm an actor so i enjoy seeing this stuff through someone else's point of view, because it is somewhat rare to have a group of creatives that speak about their work in such an interesting way, and i like hearing what other people think about all of that. the 2025 NYCC panel is wishy-washy in terms of spoilers, mostly because there's implications of things to come but not necessarily things too outright. like it might give an idea about stuff but it's still nebulous to an extent. but the identity of the blonde woman from the teaser is spoiled in the panel because she's a significant character and she's never been adapted to screen before, so fans of the book(s) have been waiting like 40 years to see her. not tons of specific info about her but moreso just a general "who she is to lestat." i don't imagine that piece of info will be kept away from the audience for even a full episode of season 3, so it's not gonna be some last minute revelation who she is, at all, but it probably still counts as somewhat of a spoiler. the 2025 SDCC panel is a lot less spoilery, but i don't think it's on youtube? it's available to watch on AMC+ though. i believe all the regular sit-down interviews from 2025 SDCC are spoiler free, too. if you're ever interested in going back and seeing discussion about past seasons, there's a lot of great stuff they have to say. the 92NY panel they did when season 2 was incoming was one i quite liked, personally. lots of great older sit-down interviews too, and those are nice because either bailey bass or delainey hayles are in a lot of those. this was a treat! :)

Yes, Anne Rice was married to her husband Stan. Even though it's a fictional "overarching theme," it's very personal. Because she is Louis and Stan is Lestat. She demonstrates an enormous degree of self-reflection and, throughout the chronicles, comes to terms with herself, her traumas, and her religion. Each book is different in that respect, and you see how she breaks away from certain things, struggles with them, and then approaches them again. Anne and Stan had a five-year-old daughter who died. That's what it's about: parents who have lost their child (among other things).
My wish for the distant future: reviews from you of the respective books (at least the first four); I would be very interested in your opinion and perspective on them. It's like the examples in the interview. Everyone has a different perspective and interpretation. I've read a few of the books several times, and I can say it's different each time.
Fun fact: the book Rolin carries around with him is one of three copies of the book...
The interviews are so funny. Jacob is still the best at saying "nothing." But Eric... For the past few years, Assad has been at his side and "sorted it out." This year's SDCC was great. The best interview was when they turned off Eric's sound because he was giving away so many spoilers.

I think it's just too easy to put two and two together from that panel. It was amazing fan service though.

The recent NYCC panel was live-streamed, so you can easily find it on youtube. I honestly don't think the panel itself gives away enough in terms of spoilers to hinder the watching experience of a non-book reader. The cast is at most hinting, teasing new stuff and doing fan-service!

Do not watch Queen of the Damned yet. There would likely be some spoilers..even if they got it way wrong. Also.. They've just wrapped production according to sauces. The second interview does not contain Jennifer Ehle.. the actress that you're referring too in the show. She's a show writer.

I think there was a Talamasca panel the other day where they alluded to the fact that they've wrapped filming? So I'd not be too worried! Imagine they'd been filming a month and they'd basically had enough to make the initial teaser then; now we're into late October so we can be hopeful!
The past NYCC panels and resulting content has been great to consume, but certainly spoiler ridden minefield!

Given you don't remember what Eric Bogosian said when Jacob Anderson pulled the mic away from him I feel like I can say this and it won't be a spoiler. It's less that it was a spoiler and more that it was a cancellable thing to say. He was saving him from fandom pitchforks (which came anyway 🤣)
