Severance - Ep.2X4 "Woe's Hollow" UNCUT & UNCENSORED

Well... can't say we didn't at least partially see this coming, right?

Still a good, fun and mysterious episode overall though!

I’m late to this one but I’m so glad I had no idea about these fan theories before I finished the show. I’m usually good at predicting how these shows go but for some reason it hadn’t even crossed my mind that Helly was actually Helena, even though now I see it was pretty obvious. I just thought she was acting different because she felt guilty about who her outie is, it just made sense for her to be more distant this season. This is why this episode was sooo good for me, the plot twist really plot twisted and I loved every second of it. + Irving and Mr. Milchick CARRIED this episode, they are the highlight of the whole show for me

You also called Milchick a "colored gentleman" Hey, I guess it's better than "negro."

Appreciate the "deep dive" on our behalf. Very imformational!

One of the craziest things to think about is, this is the first time the innies have had dreams due to never previously experiencing sleep. (Except dozing of course.)

Here is my take on how things might have gone down. Kier worked at an ether factory and Dieter seen what constantly inhaling the fumes had done to his brother. He convinced Kier to run away to the woods with him to live off the land and breathe the fresh air. Kiers' ether mania was permanent though as it often is and his moods and conversation swung high and low. Still Dieter waited for the mad ether to release it's grip on his only brothers' body. But this was not to be. Early one morning as Dieter was stirring in his bed of fern and moss, Kier fell upon him in a rage and beat him with a knotted branch until he moved no more. Seeing fit that there were no more beatles in his blankets, Kier went to hunt a rabbit for he and Dieters' lunch. Looking up at the sun he frowned, he was going to have to convince Dieter that going home to father and working at the ether factory is far better than this writhing, dangerous hell.

Down the rabbit hole. I remember a doc I seen about writers, artists and party goers in the 1800s' using ether. I tried to find more but it's hard to find older stories about ether abuse online. Irvings' favorite painting is of young Imogen and Kier at an old ether factory. It depicts them standing beside a huge wooden vat for stewing ether. Kier is stirring and Imogen is mopping or swabbing the sweat off his brow. The ether factory is mentioned again in this episode. In real life, this is before Bristol Meyers Sqibbs who also made ether established the safe lab protocols for whichthey are known. Inhaling ether fumes daily causes permanent hallucinations and changes in thought patterns. This is an excellent example with original 1800s art on how creepy things can get. My theory. Milkshake just took them all outside so he could wear that outfit. Everything else is circumstantial.

The great thing about the Helena reveal is that even if you predicted it back in ep 1, the way it was done still left an impact. Fantastic performances but of course, John Turturro is the highlight. There were a lot of callbacks and payoffs at the end of the episode. We open and close the episode with Irving, him drowning Helena, callback to the animation in episode 1, his faceoff with Milchick before he’s essentially ‘killed’ felt like a callback to the start of the season when Dylan stopped him from ‘leaving’. The only difference being whose terms it’s on. Then (and this one’s my favourite) Milchick’s last words to Irving are that it will be like he ‘never existed’. That HAS to a callback to LAST season when Irving goes off on Milchick about how smug he is because he isn’t severed and he gets to walk out with his memories in tact, not having to feel like HE ‘never existed’. The writing in this show is ✨chefs kiss✨

i dont know if *i* personally wouldve questioned helena, if not for the outside opinions. even knowing the theory, i was still like "but what if ACTUALLY its still helly and we're all paranoid". so yeah, they probably underestimated their audience a bit, but also i think theres a very loud community of the internet nerds (affectionate) who pay attention to every detail, and maybe an average joe who watches this casually and doesnt participate in the fandom wouldnt have seen the signs

I am jubilant to hear that The Board accepts my contrition <3
