(Full Reaction) Severance S2 E810

HOLY MOTHER OF THE HULK! What a season finale! Even though I talked for like 20 minutes at the end, I still don't think I wrapped up all of my thoughts about this show.

The ending was intentionally evocative and now that I've had a smidge more time to process how I feel, I really loved it. It's funny because even though Mark is the main character, I like most of the other characters more than him.

I love how Helly is such a fighter, how I'm rooting for and against Milchick at the same time, how Dylan is so compassionate, how Irving has a mysterious past and a beautifully unfolding love story. Most of all, I hope Helly, Gemma, and Mark find happiness when all of this is over. But, I'm getting the impression this show will not have a happy ending...

Hope you enjoy!

I’m glad I was finally able to finish this rewatch (for me) with you virtually on this! I love this show so much, and it’s fun to watch it again with someone for the first time. I have no idea how this is going to move on to Season 3…it feels like, it truly needs to leave the Severed floor. I hate to say it…but this feels like the end of season 2 of Westworld in a way. (BTW…Westworld is quite a suggestion to watch. I know it never gets its finish, but Season 1 in particular is maybe the only single season of TV I love as much as Season 1 of Severance. Absolute perfection.) Thanks again for this! I’m looking forward to what’s next…but if you’re tempted to stay on Apple TV…Shrinking will give you the laughs you want, and Foundation is fantastically underrated Sci-Fi and one of the most beautiful Sci-Fi shows you’ll see.

Thank you so much for walking with us during this amazing show. While our hearts rightfully go out to Gemma for the two years of torturous circumstances that was horrific on every human level, from a certain point of view, Helly R was imprisoned by Helena for thirty years and her innie self was finally able to break out allowing her to live what might be her truly free and authentic life. And though the greater mystery of Lumon's greater goal is fascinating, I will hold on to a romantic hope and remain naive enough to wish that somehow, someway, Mark/Gemma and Mark S/Helly R can still find their places in the sunlight and warmth of a happily ever after ending.
