(YT Edit) The Hunchback of Notre Dame

This movie was so much more intense than I was expecting! The animation is gorgeous, and the music is truly beautiful, with the song Out There being my favorite. Quasimodo is so kind despite his horrifically difficult life! What a wonderfully inspiring character. His passion for life is contagious.

This film tackles some deeper themes than most Disney films I've seen. At times, it felt a bit heavy with such an intense villain. Frollo is the most horrible Disney villain I've ever seen. Do you think he's the worst? Or is there another villain you think tops him?

Hope you enjoy! ❤️

Frollo really is the worst. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is perhaps one of the least children friendly movies Disney has ever put out. Even Pocahontas has a certain friendly veneer over it. Anyways, I missed this reaction earlier this year but I thought I'd give some historical context cause that is fun! The story supposedly takes place in 1482, according to Victor Hugo's book, and it's an interesting period in history. Only a year before the death of the French king, Louis XI, whom was the son of Charles VII that some may only know due to Joan of Arc's story. It's an interesting period to put the story as the French king would be nearly indisposed and the Catholic Church less restrained. Though, at the same time, this story takes place only two years before the death of Pope Sixtus IV. Of note, quarreled often with Louis XI over the pragmatic sanction of Bourges and was rather corrupt. Happens to be the Pope that both saw the Sistine Chapel to it's completion and the establishment of the Spanish Inquisition in Spain.

Yeah, no, Frollo is pretty messed up to watch. I’d say he’s the worst.
