The coffee shop conversation between Amber and Mark has always bugged me. "You have powers and have an obligation to make the world a better place," is a gigantically loaded statement. It has been implied that Mark will live for hundreds if not thousands of years, being essentially as he is now. So he is obliged to spend all that time saving the world? He doesn't get to quit or retire or even really take vacations? All of that implication while Amber is also telling him that the obligation of being his girlfriend while he does this is probably too hard for her?
