In Perpetuity

This world keeps getting stranger and stranger. I love that Helly is such a proactive character, especially since so many people seem content to just follow the rules.

De-icing sounds like a lot of work! I'm thankful I've never had to do that. Considering what you've said, her cover story really doesn't make much sense. But, I guess we are supposed to know she is just keeping tabs on him.

I can't imagine having to keep two separate identities straight. That would take so much focus to not slip up.

You brought up Miss Cobel/Mrs. Selvig mentioning her mom at work…but she mentioned her mom twice. At work, she said her mom was an atheist, but then outside Mark’s home, she said her mom was a catholic. She’s not Severed…but she absolutely has two different identities she keeps depending on where she is (to who she is with).

Regarding de-icing your home: You dont go out with a blow dryer, hanging out of your front door. 1, you'll let all the heat out, 2, the ambient air will rapidly cool the hot air coming from the hair dryer making it highly ineffective, and 3, you run the risk of having that electronic plugged into your house outlet getting dripped on. Proper way to de-ice is to clear snow/ice as best you can with a shovel, then sprinkle rocksalt and/or sand. Sand is for traction, rocksalt is because it causes ice to melt because it chemically interacts with it to change its freezing point so it turns back into water (albeit saltwater) so it can either run off or evaporate. Instead of the normal freezing point of 32F, it can actually keep it in a liquid state down to -5F. In the event theres a more immediate need to remove a buildup of ice faster, theres ice blades that can be used. Basically a thick scraper blade thats akin to a shovel; heavier so you can slam it onto the ice and break it off the concrete. I dont recommend them, as it can weaken/damage your concrete to slam a blade on em. Selvig was just making an excuse to keep tabs on him. Nosy lonely neighbor is a solid cover. Generally thought of to be harmless, and intrusions are given more leniency. And speaking of saltwater's lowered freezing point, a cool trick you can use to supercharge the effectiveness of a drink cooler is to pour in the ice, then add water even to the ice's level, and then add around half a cup of salt. With just ice, you only have about 28 degrees, and only at the points of contact between the ice and whatever you're cooling. With the ice and saltwater, you have complete submersion so that shit stays cooooooooooold.
