Severance is a gift that keeps on giving. There are so many subtleties and richness that went into the visual tapestry of this miracle of a show that goes way over one's head during the first-time viewing (necessarily!! given the load of information we need to sift through to make some sense of what's going on). One motif I grow increasingly sure is well worth your attention are the not-so-unintentional "mistakes" in continuity worthy of Stanley Kubrick himself. For instance, Mark passing in front of the landmass of a picture of the Yolk-Original-TM-fan, Kier Eagan, at the beginning. Mark takes a few steps before there is a rather peculiar cut. Notice anything odd about the relative position of the characters before and after the cut? (Such as some replacing others or completely jumping in relative direction, position, or even their being in the frame at all?) Or one more for fun: What time is it? Notice the second hand of the "innie" watch seeming to stay frozen as Mark swaps his watch? And what time is it really? 9:03 as shown at the 8:02 mark (I mean, if this isn't some HAL voodoo reference, it's a hell a coincidence)? Or is it 9:05 (as his own watch shows at mark 8:10)? After putting on his shoes (shall we clock it at around a minute?), his innie watch, now on his right wrist shows exactly the same time as before (to the second!!), and a moment later the wall clock says 9:04. ;)) Far be it for me to draw conclusions just from this. But I'm agog (to borrow Mr. Milchick's phrase) at how the motif of messing up the continuity keeps on repeating. And it doesn't really seem to fit that Stiller and company would spend so much ingenuity, effort, and creativity on the show to keep making these "silly" mistakes. Jax, thank you for this so much, I've been a fan of your reactions on YT for the longest time and have enjoyed them immensely. Can't wait to see what you and your lovely hornless goat pal think of the craziness to come... ;)) In Kier we trust!
