The statue of liberty looks different cause it was being worked on. During the events of spiderman no way home.

Armando Castillo

Thank you, Jax, for going through this journey. It doesn’t seem you skipped anything and I hope you don’t. 💚 Although, I need to hurry and catch up to the stuff I missed. Bruno SHOULD the car. I’m thinking he got to keep it.

TheEbonyElephant

You’re absolutely right about the last part. I remember seeing the flag of Pakistan in one of my history books in middle school, but it didn’t cover much.

Aldo Gonzales

Not Toronto but the GTA. A city called Markham about 20-30 minutes from Toronto. I only know this cause her local comic book shop is the same as mine and I know some of the people that went to high school with her

Connor Vide

Very true

Connor Vide

Definitely pulled heavily from the Mutant named Armor when it came to developing her powers in the MCU. Not against it but definitely a unique visual change.

LittleGalaxyBoy

I Agree. The faster. The Better. 😅 I kind of like the show, but its definitely somthing I'm not dying to watch again, maybe it will be more enjoyable with Jax. Definitely more excited for Loki Season 2 and X-Men '97 when it comes to shows.

The whole story around Kamala Khan being a mutant has a lot to do with money and rights. In the comics, she was an Inhuman. Marvel tried to develop the Inhumans with several TV series, but they never caught on with viewers. Meanwhile, Disney was on the verge of regaining the rights to the mutant X-Men, so it made sense to change Kamala Kahn to a mutant and let her be a bridge between the X-Men and Avengers. Now she has been in a movie (The Marvels, naturally...) and when you watch the end-credits of The Marvels you will see a scene that shows that she will be a bridge to The Young Averngers. Personally, my favorite part of this series is the historical aspect. The Partitian of India and Pakistan is a difficult and painful part of history. Over a million people died or went missing during that time, yet it is barely mentioned in history outside of Pakistan.

Alan Kobb

Ah yes, the moment when the MCU's first mutant is revealed!

The Dingo

Hahaha!!!

Jacqueline

Hey, MCU nerd here. I loved this series. And I also loved The Marvels! The Young Avengers are coming!

Lawrence Gibson

You should consider doing a reaction to The Marvels trailer!!

Rebecca Solomon

Rest in peace Bruno, death by Jax truth bomb @54:04. May his memory be a blessing. 💀🪦

Mike Smith

It’s nice to see a superhero whose family is still alive, not insane cult leaders, toxic parents, or outright evil, lol

Wow, just woke up and got a dentist appointment, but there's still time for a quick dive into that hint at the end, Kamala Khan being a Mutant rather than an Inhuman, as she was originally introduced in the comics. And why making her a Mutant instead of an Inhuman actually makes sense. Why Marvel Pushed the Inhumans Over the X-Men: Ike Perlmutter, then CEO of Marvel Entertainment, made the choice to elevate the Inhumans because Marvel Studios did not have the film rights to the X-Men, which were controlled by 20th Century Fox at the time. Perlmutter, known for his business-driven decisions, reportedly wanted to reduce Marvel’s reliance on the X-Men franchise. As a result, Marvel Comics began downplaying the X-Men in comics and other media while positioning the Inhumans as a replacement for mutants in Marvel’s storytelling. During this period, any new mutant character being introduced was instead changed to an Inhuman. We saw stories like Infinity (2013) and Inhuman #1 (2014), which introduced the Terrigen Bomb, a plot device that released the Terrigen Mist, exposing a large number of people and activating their latent Inhuman genes. Greatly expanding the Inhumans’ numbers, making them comparable to mutants in size, though Mutants still outnumbered them. Side note: The Terrigen Bomb was first introduced in Earth X (1999), a reality where everyone on Earth gained superpowers from the Terrigen Bomb, creating a dystopian future for the Marvel Universe. It was detonated by Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans, to prevent his people from suffering persecution by turning everyone into Inhumans. Amazing story, and artwork by Alex Ross. Perlmutter’s perspective was that creating X-Men content (such as new stories and characters) was essentially giving Fox free real estate to develop new movies and shows based on Marvel’s creations, something he strongly disapproved of. So, as a sort of middle finger to Fox, Marvel stopped prioritizing X-Men stories, pushing the team into the background and reducing their prominence in the comics. This applied to the Fantastic Four as well. After Secret Wars (2015), the team was off doing something important, essentially removing them from the comics for a good while. They were eventually brought back, but you could say they went on a little "vacation" for a period. How This Affected Kamala Khan’s Creation: This decision directly affected the creation of Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), because she was originally intended to be a mutant by her creator. However, due to Marvel’s shift away from mutants, she was instead written as an Inhuman. There's even an X-Men connection in her early stories, where she visits Xavier’s School, believing she might be a mutant, only for them to confirm that she is, in fact, an Inhuman. The Ms. Marvel (2022) TV series then released, and ended with the surprising reveal that Kamala was actually a mutant, accompanied by the X-Men '97 theme song (credited in the end credits). A reveal that shocked fans, as they had expected her to be an Inhuman, given that she had always been one in the comics up until this point. Then, in X-Men: Hellfire Gala (2023) #1, it was revealed that Kamala has both Inhuman and mutant DNA, meaning she was secretly a mutant all along. However, her mutant gene was never activated because her exposure to the Terrigen Mist triggered her Inhuman abilities first. This development came after her live-action show hinted at the change, which the comics later made official. Finally, in Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant (2023), Kamala officially joined the X-Men, fully embracing her mutant identity, again a shift that only happened after the TV series introduced the idea of her being a mutant, coming full cycle.

Fun reaction as always! Thanks Jax. I was looking forward to re-experiencing this series with you a lot. It takes a lot of unexpected turns while still being heartwarming and engaging. The Khans are arguably the only fully functional and healthy family in the entire MCU. It's delightful. I mean, ok, Muneeba was hard on Kamala for a long time, but she was working through her own mother issues there. I adore Sheikh Abdullah. He's just so kind and wise and fun and playful, even if he's pretty tradition-bound. Those hats he gave Bruno and Kamran are a great example: they read "haram" and "halal", two Arabic words. In Islam, "haram" means essentially "forbidden" (Bruno's not a Muslim so no matter how nice he is Sheikh Abdullah won't approve him for Kamala), while "halal" means the opposite of haram, which is "allowable" or "permitted", more or less, which of course is the label for Kamran. A little bit of matchmaking while genuinely helping with disguises and escapes, nice. This series does definitely lean into heightened reality at some points, like the animation we saw so much of in the earlier episodes, representing Kamala's creative daydreams. I think the high school Scooby hijinks are on some level more of the same. At points, the series seems to be related to us through a slightly unreliable but enthusiastic narrator. So maybe the high school DODC assault happened but not exactly the way we saw? Just like Kamala's "vision" of how she and Bruno would attend AvengerCon, where her costume was vastly better and she could perform acrobatics.

She-Hulk is one of my favorite MCU shows, and I'm really looking forward to Jax's reaction. I agree that 3 episodes per week makes more sense than 2 given the short episode length. The show kinda divides into thirds, as well, in some narrative and thematic senses (and the final third is, in my view, the best). Oh, and Jax, watch out for end-credit scenes in She-Hulk!

Robin Wise

More specifically, her aunt heard about the auditions through WhatsApp and passed along the announcement to her.

Aldo Gonzales

I really like your comments lol. You comment on every mcu video ans you’re you’re always very informative and positive When she reacted to eternals for example a lot of people were upset she was “wasting” a reaction to it since it’s a controversial movie lol. But I was excited cause I love it. And she ended up liking it too. I don’t really like negativity to reactors who are going in blind. A lot of the time their reactions are different from the online reviews because they don’t have as many expectations I myself had my opinion changed on some of my least favourite xmen movies because Jax liked them and brought new perspectives lol So I like your positivity

Connor Vide

One other thing. This is totally up to you since you’re the one making and editing the videos. So obviously do what you want But the next tv show you’re gonna watch in release order is She Hulk. It’s a 9 episode show. But the episodes are all shorter. It’s more of a sitcom type show. The longest episode is 37 minutes. And most are 30-35. Since it’s a shorter show, maybe you could do 3 episodes a week instead of 2 That way the amount of time is about the same as 2 episodes of the 6 episode shows. And you’ll finish them in the same amount of weeks as well Just a suggestion. Or at least a “warning” to how short the show is lol. Up to you 100%.

Connor Vide

Great reaction! I haven’t rewatched this show since I watched it the first time 3 years ago. I loved it back then but I forgot how truly good it is I think you missed one moment cause Disney plus minimized on your screen after the end credits But there was text that says “Ms Marvel will return in The Marvels”. And the movie is called that because the characters both have the name marvel in their name. I won’t spoil anything but that scene was actually directed by the director of the movie The Marvels, not the directors of the show. And yes. They are in fact teasing that she is a mutant. They played the theme song from the X-Men animated show when Bruno said the word “mutation” Her comics history with being a mutant is very complicated lol Basically in the comics shes an inhuman. Very similar to mutant but also not. But her creator WANTED her to be a mutant. But back in 2012-2015 the era she was created, marvel comics was trying to sabotage/not focus on making any *new* mutant characters due to fox owning the rights to them The way the contract worked was fox owned the rights to ALL mutants. Even if they were new characters. So even though marvel sold the rights to the mutants and the X-Men to fox in the 90s, a mutant character created in 2013 would automatically revert to Fox Marvel and Disney wanted to retain the rights to Ms Marvel and any other new character theh made. So they basically banned the creation of new mutant characters in the comics. And made all the would-be mutants into inhumans. Since they were “close enough” But the key point is that Ms Marvel’s creators wanted her to be a mutant originally. So since Disney bought Fox in 2019, and no longer had to worry about the rights, they decided to make her a mutant in the mcu to honour the creator’s original intent (her creator was an executive producer on this show and even got a cameo in it). And in 2023 in the comics they made her a mutant as well. Now in the comics she’s both an Inhuman and a Mutant. It’s pretty cool It’s a very complicated history. her powers are also very different in the comics. but visually similar. In the comcis she doesn’t have light powers. She has stretchy powers, shape shifting powers, and growing powers. while they changed it, they were still able to essentially achieve the same result through a different path. So for example instead of making her firsts *actually* big like the comics, they made it so she made light armour in the appearance of big fists. And a light hand to stretch out and grab people. So essentially the same thing The one completely brand new thing is her platforms and shields. She can’t do that at all in the comics. I’ll admit I was a little annoyed they changed her powers since I love her in the comics However, since the creator of her in the comics gave the show their blessing to change the powers, and since they added a beautiful family story that wasn’t in the comics. I think they really earned the change. And they’ve grown on me a lot. I really love The Marvels, so I can’t wait for your reaction to that. Even though it’s a bit far away (if I counted right I think you have 4 movies, 3 tv shows, and a special before it)

Connor Vide

Thy actress who played Ms Marvel I'd groom Toronto and got the job through Whats App.

Stan Johnston

What I loved the most about the final episode was seeing Kamala’s friends following along her plan, the community including the cops stepping in to help her, and Yusuf’s heart-to-heart which gave rise to Kamala’s superhero codename Ms. Marvel. The term “embiggen” is Kamala’s signature move. Originally, it allowed her to grow up to the size of a giant similar to Ant-Man. Just like him though, she can’t maintain a giant form for long. When Bruno said mutation, you can hear a sample of the intro to X-Men: The Animated Series. (Just a little reminder: X-Men ‘97 is now streaming. Two more seasons are in development.) In the comics, Kamala was originally supposed to be a mutant. They wanted to include her in the MCU at some point, but at the time they were creating her 20th Century Fox still owned the character film rights to X-Men, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four. So they decided to increase her chances of appearing in the MCU by writing her as an inhuman like Black Bolt. However, after Disney acquired Fox, they were finally able to move forward with the original plan. While we wait for you to get to The Marvels, Iman Vellani herself took part in co-writing two comic runs for her character. The first is called Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant, and the follow-up is titled Mutant Menace. All eight issues are available now wherever comics are sold. Now that you made it this far, I can also tell you about an upcoming animated show called Marvel Zombies. It takes place in the zombie apocalypse dimension from What If season 1 and it follows the events of that same episode. It’s gonna be TV-MA since they promised it’ll have way more gore. The reason I bring this up is because Ms. Marvel is the most recent MCU character who will join a zombie resistance. The rest of the lineup confirmed so far consists of the following: Jimmy Woo Yelena Belova Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian Shang-Chi His best friend Katy Chen Death Dealer (the Ten Rings operative with the white mask) And last but not least, Kate Bishop. And might I add, almost everyone I just mentioned was voiced by their respective actors from prior live-action projects. This means Iman reprised her role in the recording booth along with Randall Park, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and Hailee Steinfeld. Marvel Zombies will consist of four episodes, and it’s set to premiere this October.
