I think a full trailer will do so much more for this movie than this teaser. I do relate to some of the negativity, if I'm being honest but hear me out a minute... They used a scene lifted right out of the animated flick and its exactly the same. I think that was a little bit of an uninspired choice (but I realize that was also a pivotal moment for the marketing in the first movie). After watching the first look where they show the other characters/actors, and that they're using pyrotechnics with real flames that got me much more intrigued to where this live action take will go. Live action viking ships, and actors riding the cartoon-esque dragon characters with real effects, I'm intrigued to see how the action set pieces look. Also, to Dreamworks credit, having Toothless as a hybrid heavily detailed and textured version of the animated model is probably the smartest thing they could do. One of the biggest caveats with Little Mermaid and The Lion King live action versions is the hyper realistic animals that cannot emote. Even though I'm not personally inspired by the scene choice for this teaser, it does demonstrate that the emotion which is truly the heart and soul of this franchise can very well be replicated and brought into the live action format.

He said that he knew they were going to make the movie anyway, so he chose to make it to make sure it was done properly. It's also not going to be shot for shot. Some scenes will be, like Hiccup and Toothless' first meeting, but not the whole movie

I love that it's the same director!

I hope they do continue the story at some point!

So, yes, Jax, this promises to be fantastic in IMAX but that begs the question: Are you going to actually watch it for the first time in IMAX, or react on your computer (although I really hope that's not what you watch all these movies on) and then maybe go see it again in IMAX?I'm glad I live within walking distance of the IMAX theatre at Universal Citywalk so I can see it there. Although, the Chinese is just one subway stop away, too (I saw "Interstellar" there in IMAX just last week) so that's an option, as well.

The director has already said that it's not a shot-for-shot remake, which is good. It's too bad that so many small-minded butt heads have been making so much noise about the fact that the actress playing Astrid isn't white with blonde hair and blue eyes. Nico Parker is amazing - her work in just the first 15 minutes or so of "The Last of Us' broke everyone's heart and resonated throughout the rest of the seried - and she'll be incredible in this.

Visually it looks awesome! I would have liked to see them continue the story instead of a remake but based on the trailer I think it will be great.

I really hope it doesn't end up as a shot-for-shot remake. If so, why? Mix it up a bit. I'd rather debate what changes were good and/or bad than if a particular scene was 'identical enough'

I thought it looked amazing too! I personally ignore a lot of discourse around most movies because so much of it is negative and I prefer to be positive. Something I think this has going for it is that the director of the original movies directed this too and he's going to treat it with respect. I also really like the actor who's playing Hiccup, Mason Thames. I know you don't do horror Jax, but he was absolutely phenomenal in Black Phone so I think he'll be great in this too!

Ed Scoglio

It looks fun!
