Arcane S1 E3 (Full Reaction)

The Base Violence Necessary for Change: An epic showdown between old rivals results in a fateful moment for Zaun; Jayce and Viktor risk it all for their research.

HOLY MOTHER OF THE HULK! I did not see this episode taking such a horrifyingly deadly turn! So many of the wonderful characters we've gotten to know since the start of this season are now gone!?!?

I'm not sure where this story is going, but my guess is that the sisters are going to become rivals. I can't wait to see what happens next!! THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD!!

Watched on: Netflix / Runtime: 44:13

I hope you had fun watching! ❤️🐑🎉

I Powder's defense, we all wanted her to do exactly what she tried to do, make a bomb to blow up the bad guys. None of us foresaw the absolute destruction that would lead to, how could she?

Such is life, quite often. There were red flags that I overlooked or ignored when it came to the people I brought into my life, and I've learned a lot since it all came to a head. And, hey, it fueled one of the most ridiculously productive NaNoWriMos that I've ever had, propelling me to write 150k/50k words that November!

I love your thoughtful analysis of the show!! I'm so sorry you haven't felt respected by people. Your insight into what drives Silco is really helpful. It's also good to know Powder is only 11. It was so hard to gauge how old they were.

Jacqueline

And YES, this is a show that I have invested WAY too much thought and analysis into XD

Michael Morris

The exchange between Silco and Vander, where Vander is challenging Silco with "For what? Pride?" and Silco snaps back with "For respect!" It's easy to equate the two. But, as someone who has recently lived for several years without the respect of those closest to me, I can tell you... it will drive you to desperation, just as certainly as being deprived of... well... air. It won't kill you. Not as quickly, but there is a reason that it has a place on Maslow's hierarchy of needs... and not all that far up the pyramid. Mind you, I never went to Silco's lengths, but I can't say that I don't get where he's coming from. Now, when it comes to Powder's age... yes, she's 11, but she's also someone who has grown up in an environment that is toxic on several levels. The undercity's air is toxic, and the upper city... well, they profit on the labor of those in the undercity... while giving them barely enough to survive... if even that. Piltover is very pretty, but this isn't heaven and hell. It's lawful devils and chaotic demons. Powder grew up in a world where her parents were killed by the enforcers. Likely also with a certain level of trauma and definitely a need for psychological help... but it is also safe to say that those are pretty much nonexistent in the undercity. Vi has done her best... but Vi isn't equipped to really help Powder in every way that she needs. That's not a failing on Vi's part, it's just the nature of these things. It is tragic, the road that brought them both to this point, but it was the hand that they were dealt, and... you've just got to play it the best you can.

Michael Morris

Hahahaha! I'm so glad we can expect tea and unicorns from here on out!

Jacqueline

They are both so young to be going through so much. Silco is truly terrifying!

Jacqueline

Powder has attachment issues. You can see that when she gets really upset about being left behind. She and Vi both have different ways of dealing with their trauma. Powder lost her parents at such a young age that she is afraid of being left. And Vi was a little older and just was angry. This show really shows how trauma can affect kids in different ways. Vi has impulse issues and when she hit her and told her everything that would hurt Powder. Everything that she was protecting her from. Because Mylo kept calling her a Jinx which was a sore spot for Powder.

Kristine Friling

Don't worry, it gets entirely upbeat from here. Unicorns, rainbows, and all the tea they can drink. Maybe. ;) And is Powder jinxed? Well...about that. lol

Michael Kemmet

I think your a bit harsh on Powder. Vi did hit her, and also... Kids, especially at that age are very impressionable. Vi was Powder's mother figure.

According the wiki Powder was 11 and her sister Vi 15 in the first act (Episode 1 to 3). Silco is a great vilain, he's smart, ruthless but he has a goal, he doesn't see himself as a villain. He fight for the independance of his people.
