John Walker. I'm not a fan of him, despite the fact that he doesn't actually seem like a bad person. I love seeing Sam and Bucky work together! I'm using my mind powers in hopes that their reluctant friendship turns into them being best friends for life. That's a good use of my mind powers, right? I liked this episode a lot and feel like the show is really picking up speed. So far, phase 4 of the MCU has been awesome!

Definitely did not like his character, or even the story line around him. Coming right after "WandaVision" this series just didn't hold up for me and having Sam give away the shield after Steve had gone through so much and then handed it off to him just felt wrong.

2024-09-17 18:43:57 +0000 UTCBack in Captain America: First Avenger, Erskine mentions that he chose Steve becasue he was a weak man and so would respect his new strength. John is (has probably always been) a strong man, and is now the most decorated soldier in US history, and so there's much more of a danger it'll start to go to his head, even though he's not a bad person at his core.

2024-09-16 14:33:54 +0000 UTCThe thing with Steve Rogers and John Walker is that Steve became Captain America by doing what he felt was right, even though it often meant ignoring the authorities. To the extent that by the time Infinity War they wanted him arrested. John on the other hand is an honored soldier, assigned by the government with the express expectation that he will follow their orders. He's not a bad guy, but he has a lot to prove and it clouds his judgement. That being said, a man with clouded judgement is likely to make mistakes right? So you'll have to judge for yourself as you go if he goes too far or keeps it under control.
