In Chapter 2 of John Wick's story, he gets pulled out of retirement by an Italian gangster whose collecting an old debt. John reluctantly accepts the job, though, he's not happy about it. And you really want to keep John happy.

Remember? “Peter Quill, for the record, I advised against trusting you!!….. Prove me wrong!”

It might not be peak Woo, but it's an entertaining action flick that introduced Woo's unique flourishes to mainstream North-American audiences.

I do heavily recommend John Woo films like Hard Boiled, The Killer, and A Better Tomorrow very much the inspiration behind John Wick. Also there's that pretty awful Max Payne film starring Mark Wahlberg that misses the mark when adopting the games narrative and characters. Give Chad Stahelski the chance to make a Max Payne film or show and fans would eat that up.
