The Falcon and The Winter Soldier S1 E2 (Full Reaction)

I love seeing Sam and Bucky work together! I'm using my mind powers in hopes that their reluctant friendship turns them into BFFL (best friends for life). That's a good use of my mind powers, right? I liked this episode a lot more than the pilot. So far, phase 4 of the MCU has been awesome!

Let me know your thoughts on Walker...

I absolutely hate that neither Sam nor Dr. Raynor even ACKNOWLEDGED how Bucky opened up there: "...maybe he was wrong about you, and if he was wrong about you then he was wrong about ME." That was a huge breakthrough for Bucky, and a moment of astonishing honesty...I can see Sam not being willing to acknowledge it in the moment, but I feel that Dr. Raynor as Bucky's therapist truly failed in her job not taking note of that.

Great episode and interesting subject matter. Walker is a good dude with a hard job/task. Imagine being hated immediately as soon as you walk outside.

You make a great point that the original heroes in the MCU, like Steve, proved themselves. You can't just shove someone new in their shoes and carry on. Well get ready because there is a whole lot more of that in store in phase 4.

Cameron

Haha! That's such a perfect way of describing him. The Walmart version of Cap!

Jacqueline

Yes! I'd love to see those!!

There is no spoiler there

Can you delete the spoilery comment please.

The Dingo

Yeah, the last known attempt at re-creating it lead to the accident that caused Bruce Banner to become the Hulk and then Emil Blonsky before he was injected with Bruce's blood turning him into the Abomination back in the Hulk movie.

For me, one of the really rewarding features of the "Post-Infinity Saga" MCU is it's willingness to explore a little bit of moral ambiguity. It isn't really clear this early in the series who the "good guys" and who the "villains" are, and I find that refreshing. I also was really impressed with the MCU's willingness to confront Race In America as a theme. To me, these story-telling elements demonstrate Marvel's commitment to producing quality new content as opposed to just re-hashing a previously successful formula. I enjoy that the material is a little bit challenging but still in a recognizable MCU. I think this show holds up very, very well and is a really strong early entry in the "Post-Infinity Saga" MCU. I enjoyed Jax's reaction a great deal, of course. She is fun to watch with!

Wow, I thought I had a negative reaction to John Walker! He really is like the generic, Walmart version of Captain America.

Also, John Walker is not a Super Solder. The government doesn't have super solder serum. They tried to replicate it so many times but failed. Thats why Bucky and Sam are confused as to why there are more Super solders out there

Sam and Bucky busting each other's chops is the best. I can only imagine the blooper reels for these two 😂

John Walker and his pal Battlestar are absolutely from the comics. As is Isiah Bradley. Fun fact, in one of the runs of Captain America Isiah is the first super soldier - he was experimented on because he was black - and they used a perfected serum on Steve. This is such a good show, it draws so much from the comics and brings some of these larger-than-life characters back to Earth and the real world. Imagine being an Avenger, but because of your criminal history and race are still turned down for a small business loan. This show is really an analysis of race relations in America, through the guise of a superhero show and its really moving and telling. But yeah a few things dont make sense. No way Tony didn't have bank accounts in the tens of millions set aside for each Avenger. Like that one scene in Age of Ultron where Steve mentioned he can't afford rent in Brooklyn. Its like what do you mean Captain America pays rent, or the Falcon can't get a boat mechanic. Its a little crazy, but I guess Marvel doesnt just want Tony fixing everyone's problems.

He also took up the mantle of Captain America a few times. But like...so did a dozen people over the comic runs. Lots of people have been Captain America.

Lee Aguera

John Walker is definitely in the comics and he had an alternate name. I won't say it because it will be revealed later. :D
