WandaVision S1 E6 (Full Reaction)

There was a Goosebumps preview before this episode. I watched it, thinking it was for WandaVision. It's not! But, it looks like a really good movie so that's going on my watchlist. When syncing up your version of WandaVision with mine, skip the preview for Goosebumps.

Watched on: Disney+ / Runtime: 39:20

WandaVision S1 E6 (Full Reaction)

My interpretation of the way things work insofar as Wanda goes is that she didn't know what she was doing when the story started. In the first episode, and maybe the second, she was doing all this on a sub-conscious level. In this episode, she mentioned to her brother that she didn't know how she did what she did, and to me, it felt like she wasn't being deceptive there. But then at some point, she became aware of what she was doing (as she is when she steps out of the Hex with the drone to confront Sword), and chose to continue with the fantasy even though she knows she's hurting others and holding them captive. I have sympathy for her, and I feel bad for her, but she's still in the wrong here. But I think it's different with Vision. I think he still doesn't know what's going on as of this episode, and when he took that one guy out from Wanda's control, then put him back under--and when he did the same thing to Agatha--he wasn't doing it to be cruel. I think he didn't know what was going on or what to do, so he put them back under until he could figure it out because he can't just leave them in a state of panic. To me, those were cases where he had to do something terrible, but the alternative is too dangerous, so he doesn't have a choice. I love how genius this show is. The plotting and attention to detail is so ridiculously good. So glad you have this whole series up here, Jax!

I like seeing those comedians turn in more dramatic performances

TheEbonyElephant

That's a good point! Since Monica's mom didn't return in the blip, she's going through a very similar experience as Wanda. I hadn't thought of it from that perspective!

Jacqueline

Wow, I'm surprised this has had the most nominations and wins of any MCU show! I think it's very well done. I just assumed the Loki should be more popular, since he's such a beloved character.

Jacqueline

Thank you! I saw Stranger Than Fiction in theaters and thought it was such a clever film. I'll be putting up a suggestions post and polls later this week!

Jacqueline

Thank you!

Jacqueline

People always ask 'where are the other Avengers' like the organisation even exists anymore! The founding members are dead, the remaining are scattered, injured or just plain living their lives! It's not like the Hex is international news, Hawkeye doesnt know Wanda went off and created a secret paradise by enslaving 3000 people! And what could he do? I do wonder if Doctor Strange could have detected this... but Im guessing not, or he'd be here.

The episode intro main styles/influences so far all speak to the kinds of comedy the episodes aim for: 1950s: The Dick Van Dyke Show 1960s: Bewitched 1970s: The Brady Bunch 1980s: Family Ties 1990s: Malcolm in the Middle

I'd normally try to answer your questions but... I really can't here. I've seen the show several times and I know too much, and there's no good way to be honest and avoid spoilers that could lessen your enjoyment. I will say that in terms of whose side we should be on, that's exactly why we have Monica, Jimmy, and Darcy in the show: we know they're unambiguously good people, and they've formed a solid team that's a kind of audience surrogate as they try to figure out what's going on. It's hard to know what to think of everyone else at this point for various reasons. Wanda seems really conflicted and confused, even while she's apparently victimizing all these people. Vision seems like his normal heroic self but how is that possible? Next episode starts to give some real answers, especially at the end. And then for the penultimate episode and finale you're going to want to have Lamby at the ready. Oh! The last 3 episodes all have mid-credits scenes (and the finale has a post-credits scene as well), so don't miss those!

This story is just so dynamic. Vastly different views on right/wrong, to what degree, how to make "right" more viable, how to make "wrong" change in the best way... And then whatever you decide, they show you a different perspective that changes your mind. Like actual dynamic story and storytelling. Also, I LOVE me some Avatar: The Last Airbender from Nickelodeon. (Didn't watch it live, I just binged the whole thing when I found it during lockdown.)

Richard Flores

"Where is the Fa... where are the Avengers that can actually do something?" hahaha omg :D

Kezo

Strange was planned to appear, but they wrote his appearance out. A few reasons for that, one of them being covid which did change several things about the last episodes.

DracoMint

I think Monica is more understanding and forgiving toward Wanda because what everyone in there feels is what Wanda feels, so Monica probably has sympathy due to feeling all that intense pain and grief she must be feeling. Plus Monica was already grieving and in pain when she was pulled in.

DracoMint

this is an interesting show of what grief can do to a person. while it's no excuse for committing crimes, it does make it a bit more understandable. i think that's why i love monica so much, because she really shows what true empathy is. even as a victim she still tries to understand and help the victimizer, knowing she's not doing this maliciously. you also asked a couple times in previous videos if we liked this show. i think wandavision has the most nominations and most wins of all the mcu shows. over 30 awards and over 100 nominations. it was very popular when it came out. i think other mcu shows have done well also, but i think one is probably still one of the more popular ones out there. next episode is one of my faves. also, this is a disney show. so singing might actually help get things done....

When it comes to the Multiverse…You ain’t seen nothing yet 😜

CheshireKat528

Post credit scenes will be important in the upcoming episodes, just fyi.

TwistedMagoo

Yeah it sucks, but at this point everyone that is still alive is so scattered and or dealing with their own grief and PTSD from the last 5-10ish years of living in the MCU 😆

CheshireKat528

Another magical reaction from Jax. ✨ I noticed you referenced the Truman Show. Have you seen Stranger Than Fiction? How do I access the polls?

TheEbonyElephant

Yup, totally Malcom in the Middle. The intro, the quick-cut, the forth wall breaking. When Wanda says "kick-ass" it was unscripted, but they kept it in the show anyway. Kick-Ass just happens to be a comic book movie starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson (MCU Quicksilver) and Evan Peters (X-Men Quicksilver)

Quinton Turner

As far as how I see Wanda in this, I won't go into too much detail because it'll get spoiler-y. I will say at this point I was starting to really see her as the villain. Which was depressing, because I loved her so much in the movies. She's also the main character in this series. Aren't you supposed to root for the main character? That's why this is still my favorite of the MCU Disney+ series. It's very complex. The last few episodes only solidify it as my favorite. Keep an eye out for mid/end credits scenes from this point.

Marty McGee

well while you might not technically be wrong, i would say this is definitely one show thats earned the right to where you should let it all play out before making final character judgements... looking forward to these next ones. hopefully people have mentioned to lookout for post credit scenes from here on out

RJ Dough

I love that their costumes represent their true, magical selves! This X-Men crossover has me excited to watch those films too.

Jacqueline

After spending so much time watching The Avengers come together, it's so weird that they're mostly gone now! I guess there isn't really anyone to help get through to Wanda. Welp, hopefully Dacry, Rambo, and Woo have a plan!

Jacqueline

I completely forgot that the stones were destroyed in this timeline! Gosh, the multiverse is confusing. Also, I love how their Halloween costumes are really the true versions of themselves!

Jacqueline

I love that!!

Jacqueline

There’s a joke in this episode where they ask if Wanda has a superhero name and Woo and Rambeau say no…… while she’s wearing the original Scarlet Witch costume and Vision is in his original form both from the comics. From the comics, in at least one timeline Wanda and Pietro’s father is Magneto, one of the main some time enemy/some time friend of the Xmen.

To answer your question about where the Avengers that are unavailable are: - Iron Man: dead - Captain America: retired as an old man - Thor: doesn't live on Earth, and the government has no way to reach him - Black Widow: dead - Hawkeye: literally just got his family back and likely would want to sit this one out as a result - Vision: well, you know where Vision is The only available Avengers are: - Spider-Man - Hulk - War Machine The other heroes are not Avengers, and their statuses: - Black Panther: king of a foreign country; would the US really turn to him? - Doctor Strange: not on speed dial for the government, and remember in Thor he said he is focused on off world threats like Loki - Guardians of the Galaxy: off world - Ant-Man: calls himself an Avenger but never actually joined; probably available but this is way above his pay grade - Wasp: probably available but this way above her pay grade too - Captain Marvel: off world, and the only person who can reach her if Fury who would only reach out for a world-threatening event which this doesn't equate to - Wong: see Doctor Strange And one last point: the writers of Endgame said Wanda would have beat Thanos; the only thing that saved him is when he ordered the "rain fire" strike from his ship to bombard the entire battlefield. If he hadn't done that to take her out of the immediate fight, she would have killed him. She was never able to re-engage. Remember: she had him in the air, immobilized and stripped him of all his armor - he was losing and was about to die.

The Dingo

The show has confused you so badly that you are all messed up. This is after Endgame. The stones are destroyed. Thanos destroyed them, remember? Dr. Strange no longer has the time stone. I think you are so desperately trying to apply some standard of story construction and traditional story telling that you are spending way to much time trying to find a theory that will force it into a preconceived notion. It's keeping your otherwise brilliant and insightful mind from just accumulating all the information you are being given an allowing the story to come to you. Trust that they know what you don't know and have correctly predicted your confusion. Just like the first and second episodes "seemed" to not make sense, they do now that you know more. This show was not controversial at all. People were baffled and confused and wondering and seeing the tons of Easter eggs and hints we were being given but, like you, having no clue as to how they all added up. Everyone loved the ever changing reveals. The costumes for them in this episode are direct calls to their comic costumes for all the characters.

The Halloween costumes are their classic comic cosutmes
