First off, Happy new year to all of you! I hope your New Years was as phenomenally over the top as this fucking PRELIM FIGHTERS walkout from Rizin 40. Seriously, this dude with like a 2-0 record did a walkout that was so extravagant Prince Naseem probably would've felt like it was "a bit over the top". So yeah, my New Years was spent watching a tape delayed Rizin 40 and pretending i didn't already know 50% of the results.
And before we go any further let me just quickly rant/rave about this. I actually paid the 14 euros for this PPV, only to find that DIDNT include the actual fucking Rizin v Bellator fights. But let me tell you, it was pretty much worth the price of admission to be watching some JMMA madness on NYE like the days of old, and to see Rizin continue the tradition of the old Pride style opening ceremonies. Seriously, it may not have been the best card you'll ever see, but god damn was it entertaining.
From the boyband walkout, to the fact that he was fighting a Japanese movie star/biker gang leader with a 1-0 record, who walked out with a coterie of Yakuza goons (apparently he only makes gangster films?) it was wall to wall entertainment:

John Dodson walked out in a Ninja turtle onesie, before unlocking a new mythical fighter: 6 foot 2 Dodson

Honestly, after all this, I wasn't even mad at the stream for ending before the actual Rizin v Bellator fights.
And that was my NYE. I sincerely hope all of you had a less sad one 😂
So I've been in hibernation mode since the upload of the end of year video. I did have to scramble to edit and re-upload a new version of the EOY video after the initial upload got age restricted. I wont bore you by going into too much detail, but basically no matter how much I removed, it would get instantly flagged and de-monetized as soon as it was uploaded. In the end I gave up and left it demonetized, hoping it would still at least bring in new viewers. And if we needed proof that Youtube is actively suppressing my videos its practically cut and dried with this one. The re-uploaded version was doing great, 30K views on day one, which is crazy for a re-upload, but on day two, nothing. It was like it was suddenly removed from the algorithm completely. Even now, 3 weeks later, its barely just scraped an extra 3000 views since that initial 30K on day 1. That is NOT a natual decrease in views over time. Its basically a kneecapping. But anyway!
After that, I gave up and went full goblin mode for the rest of December. Bingeing videogames, junk food, and a total lack of exercise. I've put 60 hours into Lost Judgment over the last couple of weeks, a game whos main character I identify with in a way I didn't think possible of any videogame:

But aside from all this gaming and eating, and basically being a slovenly bastard, I've been plotting my next video.
BUT WAIT!
There's also something that will likely be a gigantic load of fucking nothing, but a few days ago I was contacted by Karate Combat. Yes, THE Karate Combat! If you haven't seen them, they're big selling point is you wear Gi pants and fight in what looks like an unfinished swimming pool, while a 3D background that looks like a Mortal Kombat stage loops to make it look like there's actually an audience. But hey, its got GSP and Bas Rutten on commentary, and some of the fights are fun. I actually do like them as an organization and had been toying with the idea of doing a video on "also ran" promotions like Rizin, Karate Combat, etc etc at some point (and i probably will, thats definitely an idea ill be doing at some point this year).
So anyway, they contacted me with this: (note the use of the word collaboration)
"Hello Mr. Blownapart,
Hope your holidays are going well. We have been loving your videos on YouTube - the roast and fake style videos are hilarious!
I’m working for the production company behind Karate Combat (karate.com) - we would love to connect with you in the new-year to collaborate on a video for your next season.
Thanks"
Season?? I have fucking seasons now? lol.. anyway.. Great! Collaboration sounds awesome, i thought! I replied and said id love to do something with them. But the response i got back, was basically, "yeah, great, feel free to use any of our footage and make a video about us, thanks."
So while I have asked for clarification as to whether this is actually a collaboration, as in, we work together and I get paid, at the moment it seems like they're just fishing to get creators to make videos for them and likely paying you in "exposure".
I'll keep you posted, but unless they're actually willing to pay me, I'm not taking time out from making videos for you guys to make something for them. Not for the fucking "exposure" anyway.. 🙄 I cant pay Biscuits vet bills in exposure!!!
But yeah, for the next video, I've settle on the idea of:
"A brief history of freakshow fights"
(title TBD). I've already got a rough sketch of it in my mind, the term "freakshow" is really to just draw attention, as it wont just be discussing the more overtly freakish fights. It'll be covering basically any and all spectacle fights, from Boxer v Wrestler fights of the 1920s, to Ali v Inoki, to the true freakshow shit like Gabi Garcia vs Yumiko Hotta, and how spectacle ass tomfuckery like Mayweather McGregor led us to the clown world we now inhabit of professional youtube boxing and the Jake Paul era of combat sports.
So if you can think of your favourite freakshow/bizarro fights, whether they be well known or obscure, just let me know in the replies!! There's bound to be a bunch of weird ones I'm sure I've never heard of before!
As for the channel itself, I have no real specific goals for the year. I know as a "content creator" I should be planning my ascent past Mr Beast or whatever, but fuck it. All I plan on doing is trying to make a better video than the one that came before it. And if I can hit 100K subscribers before 2023 is out, I think I can officially consider myself a moderately successful Youtuber. I would potentially like to make something a bit more outside the scope of MMA, I do enjoy videos like Beige Frequency's latest video about the liver king, and I like that he can do videos about MMA, Comedy, and Fitness Gurus. But at the same time, I have no idea what else there is i could talk about 😂
I hope your 2023 is fantastic, I wish you all nothing but the best for the coming year.
Thank you all!!
Take care
