Very interesting to see your work as a professor behind the scenes!

Trevor Habig

You are undoubtedly a terrific teacher, judging from your videos and your ability to explain ideas in depth. It sounds like the vast majority of your students highly appreciate your teaching. In the documentary on Bob Dylan,"No Direction Home", Dylan is asked what he thought about all the booing he was getting after he went "electric". He said that he had a perspective on it and that whatever it was about, it wasn't about the music. People have all kinds of issues and when they are directed to someone else, it often has nothing to do with the person they're directed to. Still ,if you're sensitive, it still stings.( I don't think Bob's sensitive in that way.) Keep up the good work.

Interesting video; a good insight. I have no doubt you're a great teacher, and generally speaking, I question how helpful general reviews of teachers are, from students. Of course, serious complaints, or consensus that a teacher is terrible, is one thing— but tying a small sample size of what can amount to very biased feedback, to raises or employment, feels shortsighted to me. But hey, what do I know.

Thanks for posting this. I'm also a professor so I can relate. I don't know you, but I can say that I suspect that the quality of your teaching performance hasn't changed since Covid and is as strong as ever. It's clear from watching your videos that you have a gift for teaching and a passion for inquiry and learning. Your students are fortunate to have such a professor especially in the turbulent world in which we live. Stay the course and don't lose sight on what's important. This video also made me think of an idea for your channel. My idea is just an idea, but what about using the idea of "courses" for your channel. Maybe offer some sorts of courses. Maybe a Beatles course or a Neil Young course. Or a course of song sequencing on albums. Or a course tracing certain types of music back to their roots in the 1960's. Could have intro level courses and higher level courses. Whatever. Just thought that would be a nice way to tie your passion and love of music with your passion and love of teaching. Stay well and don't lose faith in your gift.
