I think the answer to this question is a clear no, because eventually you will reach a point where you can't relate to some music in the slightest.
Even despite a familiarity to that music through friendships and relationships.
I learned to love many genres through connections to other people. Namely Indie Rock, Electronica and Punk, but one genre that never clicked was Metal.
And like you might know Metal is very big in Germany, so it would be hard not to know someone who loves it.
While I watched your take, I asked myself, what is it that I don't like.
Metal came to mind, but I thought, no that's not it, because I like some Metal like Sepultura, White Zombie or Black Sabbath, or even the odd Metallica or Iron Maiden song.
Only to realize later, I listen to these groups because they all have an element that I can relate to, that connects with me, that elevates the music from the Metal genre. An element that brings these band into my "comfort zone".
So, while looking at new music releases today I discovered the new Halloween and Fear Factory albums.
And asked myself, can i/you like them?
Edit: speaking of Metal, the album "I LIE HERE WITH MY RINGS AND MY DRESSES" by Zambian-Canadian rapper Backxwash from Montral *wink wink* is pretty good so far.
Disclaimer: not one french word on the album.

Wow Skye ,thanks for addressing this question so thoughtfully. Your openness and self reflexivity is impressive and one of the main reasons I appreciate your thoughts so much. It's been my experience that if I come across a piece of music , art, a person that I think I hate, that there is going to be something there that is important for me to understand, and I always come away from it "liking" or learning something from it.It inevitably makes my universe bigger, and what can be better than that ? But that raises the question, how much is my brain capable of taking in before it becomes hopelessly overloaded. What is the roll of discernment, categorization, like and dislike and music /art criticism ? Want to always be growing in my ability to see the beauty in as much as I possibly can, and that's why I appreciate the mission of your channel so much. As Bob Dylan said "get busy living or get busy dying", or something like that.
