Combat Difficulty Poll
Added 2023-08-14 17:12:34 +0000 UTCHello everyone! Today, a quick poll regarding the game's combat difficulty. Just looking for a rough idea about how our Patrons typically play these types of games. While we obviously want all difficulty modes to be fine-tuned in the end, this feedback will help us focus attention and resources in the short term, and set a baseline for what the combat feels like.
Narrative mode: Basically auto-wins combat for you. Combat can be fought realtime at "novice mode" difficulty, but there is also a "resolve combat" button, which will play out the rest of the encounter like a cutscene, with no further input from the player (you'll win, providing you're not under-leveled)
Initiate mode: The easiest active-combat difficulty. Enemies won't be very good at dodging ranged attacks/magic, and deal 25% less damage.
Apprentice mode: Baseline balanced difficulty. Most enemies will attempt to dodge ranged attacks/magic, so you'll want to wait for the right moment to strike. Enemies deal full damage, so you'll need to protect yourself, and actively dodge/heal.
Adept mode: Enemies deal 25% more damage and have access to additional abilities. The combat AI will also be more aggressive, making encounters with multiple enemies much more frantic.

I do believe it would make for a more versatile experience for a multitude of gamers if there was an option of gameplay style/difficulty...like, I know I'm all in for the story and exploration, while gamer friends of mine who'd be equally interested vary in liking a challenge verses a balance of all these options.
