CHAPTER 31: I am the half brother of Meredith Grey
Added 2023-07-19 18:07:50 +0000 UTCAs Meredith entered the kitchen, Lucas immediately noticed the object in her hands and couldn't help but ask, "Is that an urn?". He paused, removing the eggs he was cooking from the pan, his curiosity piqued.
Meredith sighed, realizing that her behavior from the previous day had been immature. She approached the cabinet and grabbed a plastic zip lock bag. "It's my mother," she replied quietly, her voice tinged with a mix of sadness and resignation.
Despite witnessing similar scenes in the show, Lucas was still appalled by the sight of Meredith placing her mother's ashes in a plastic bag. He couldn't help but feel that it was inappropriate and disrespectful, regardless of Ellis's shortcomings as a mother.
As Lucas continued setting the food on the kitchen table, he remarked, "So, your cleansing. In your own unique way."
Confused, Meredith asked, "Cleansing? What do you mean?"
Lucas paused for a moment, contemplating how to express his thoughts. "I mean cleansing the past, letting go of the burdens that hold us back, and embracing the possibilities of the future," he explained.
Lucas couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction as he witnessed Meredith taking actions similar to those in the show. He saw it as a positive development, even if it happened a little earlier than expected. However, there was still one more task on his mind - getting Izzie to take a blood test. If he could accomplish that, it would resolve his ongoing issues with the Grey's Anatomy cast, at least for the time being. Lucas knew that the other challenging events in the show were still years away, so he felt he had some breathing room in that regard.
"Mmm, moving forward?" Meredith murmured softly as she gazed at the plastic bag in her hand. Initially, her intention was simply to remove her mother's ashes from her room, without considering the concept of looking toward the future. However, Lucas's words had ignited a spark within her, making her contemplate the idea that embracing the future required letting go of the baggage associated with her mother, starting with her ashes.
"Yo! What's for breakfast?", Alex greeted cheerfully as he entered the kitchen, followed by Izzie.
"Good morning," Izzie added with a smile.
Both of them couldn't help but notice Meredith standing there with a bag of ashes and her mother's urn nearby, causing confusion to mark their faces. They exchanged puzzled glances, trying to understand the situation.
Lucas, taking charge of the moment, seated himself at the table and addressed everyone, "That's Meredith's mother, she's cleansing." He proceeded to serve himself some food and motioned for everyone to join in, saying, "Come on, let's eat before it gets cold."
Izzie and Alex, though still perplexed by the sight before them, decided to go along with Lucas's explanation and sat down to have breakfast.

Meanwhile at certain Airport:
"Are you excited, babe?" a woman asked, her voice filled with anticipation. Accompanying her was a man who was dragging a suitcase along with him.
"Of course, I'm excited! This is my first official case as an FBI Agent! And a serial killer, no less! This is the best day of my life!" the man exclaimed, his voice brimming with happiness. However, he quickly realized that his words might not have been appropriate. He looked towards the woman beside him and awkwardly corrected himself, "I mean, the best moments of my life were when we got married and when we had our son."
The woman just smiled, understanding the true meaning behind his words. As a police officer herself, she comprehended why her husband was filled with joy and excitement. Solving an intriguing case was something they both loved doing together.
But with a hint of concern hidden in her voice, she added, "Take care of yourself there, Jake." Throughout Jake's career, he had encountered his fair share of trouble, and Amy worried that it might follow him in Seattle.
"You don't have to worry about me, Ames," Jake reassured her, planting a tender kiss on her lips. "I'll be fine, especially since Agent Lundy will be following me soon. We'll watch each other's backs once we're there," he stated, recalling his partner for the case.
"I know, I just can't help but worry," Amy admitted, caressing Jake's arm lovingly.
"Say my regards to Charles for me," Jake stated as he was about to enter the airport terminal when suddenly he heard a man shouting his name.
"JAKE!" "JAKE!"
Turning his head towards the direction of the voice, Jake immediately recognized his best friend running towards him. "Charles?", he muttered in confusion. Jake had only been in Brooklyn for a few days, and while he had initially thought of calling Charles to hang out, he decided to spend time with Amy and Mac instead. He assumed he would catch up with Charles the next time he returned, so he couldn't figure out how Charles knew where he was.
"I texted him," Amy explained, breaking Jake out of his own musings. "He was so excited when he got the text," she added, watching as Charles sprinted towards them and gave Jake a big hug.
"Why didn't you tell me you were in town?!" Charles exclaimed, annoyance evident in his voice as he released Jake from the hug.
"I thought you were busy. Terry said you had a lot of cases on your hands," Jake replied, attempting to defend himself.
"Well, you're right," Charles admitted. Since most of the detectives had left the 99, Charles had been working overtime to manage the workload. "Anyway, good luck on your case in Seattle. It's all over the news. You must be very excited," he added.
Without missing a beat, Jake responded, "You must be very excited. Title of your sex tape," causing Charles to smile. Since Jake had taken the offer to work for the FBI, he rarely had the chance to see his best friend.
For a brief moment, Jake and Charles caught up with each other before Jake had to head to his terminal to prepare for his flight. As they exchanged well-wishes and promises to catch up properly in the future, the bond between the two friends remained strong, even with the distance and their respective careers pulling them in different directions.

Meanwhile at Ridgeway:
As Lucas entered the school, his attention was immediately drawn to Freddie, who was handing a portable camera to Sam. Curiosity piqued, Lucas approached Freddie the moment Sam left and asked, "What was that about?"
Freddie shrugged, a puzzled expression on his face. "I don't really know. Sam just told me that she needed a portable camera."
"I wonder what she's going to use that for," Lucas murmured, trying to recall any previous episodes of iCarly where Sam had utilized a portable camera for a specific purpose.
But before Lucas could delve deeper into his thoughts, Freddie interrupted, saying, "Sam did mention that she has something planned for the night she gets the camera. She said she'll text me about it. Do you want me to inform you, when she does?"
Lucas's intrigue grew even stronger at the notion of Sam having a plan. Wanting to be in the loop, he replied, "Sure, why not? I'm curious to see what she's up to."
